I failed to make the requirements for the foreign earned income tax exemption this year, due to an extended medical trip state side. Between state, and federal taxes I owe 20K. What is worse is failing to qualify for the exemption in 08 will disqualify me from the exemption for the next 5 years. This will cost me 25K or more each year

Old thread, and useless now, but I was so excited, I had to share. I had originally expected to pay the federal government ~$550 this year (well, originally expected a large return, but my work sucks), and it was going to have to be late. I was waiting for my bill with amount plus late fee, but just now I checked the mail and found a letter saying they recalculated my 2008 taxes and corrected an error. Now I have a check for $7.71 I was really dreading the bill coming in. I either suck with taxes (likely, though math was always my best subject) or they took into account my last years return that I never got because of a 2007 error with my e-file. Good ****.
