Actually I live in Charlottesville, the city Jefferson designed, built, lived in the majority of his life. My front door is a ten minute walk to Monticello (Jefferson's house) which makes it even worse.

I know why the civil war was started I also know what was used as a major motivator to the people of the union...slavery...Kind of like today we are fighting a war over oil, yet it was started over "terrorism".

The south seceded due to its opposing viewpoint on the expansion of slavery in the united states. The union rejected the succession and Lincoln's sole goal was to restore the union. IIRC, the south attacked Fort Sumter, which started the war. Only after fearing defeat, he used the abolishment of slavery as a way to motivate black-americans and slaves to fight against the confederation, a year after the war had started.




I had a black lady here at work tell me she loved it back in the 60s-70s when it was a black white thing. Once the mexicans and muslims moved in, they ruined the area. i agreed.

That's a mild generalization Brainy. Middle Eastern countries have their wealthy and their poor like any other country. Your statement is true of many American white communities as well.

 

Some of the worst neighbors I've had have been well off white middle class folk. Just go into a wallmart in a primarily white neighborhood ... scary how shallow the gene pool really is. I'd rather have a Chinese or Iraqi neighbor than a good old boy redneck who listens to Skynyrd and gets drunk every weekend.

All people suck equally. It's a fact. Fear of other races just shows ignorance.
