Default Stupid request...

Well, I just bought a '94 R package from a guy out in the middle of nowhere but it's tags are expired by about two years and I don't wanna pay to get it towed since it runs fine and I live almost sixty miles away. So my request is....

does anybody have a temporary operating permit for either January, February, or March that you could scan for me? I normally wouldn't even ask since I'd register it right away, but the car is gonna be sitting for at least six months and I don't have the any extra cash to waste registering it.

You'd really be helping a fellow mt'er out! Help me accomplish my dreams of owning the most badass turbo'd R package around!!!

PLS PLS PLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^ Agreed. You could always rent a truck and dolly for a day though, in a pinch.

my car is currently off the road(for winter) and it has a rejected sticker since the day i bought it. I drive it like once a week with no problems. Just don't drive like an *******, stay in the right lane and you should be ok.

do you currently own a miata that is black? like the "r" package is? if so you'll have no problem cause if they run your plate (while driving, not pulled over) all they'll see is a black miata. you think the cops really know the difference between years? Hell cops don't know MR2 motors are not in the front of the car.

I say no plates, down a couple 40's of OE 800, top down and drive it home naked, in reverse with a tranny hooker in the trunk!

When I bought my Miata from leatherface in FL, I drove a good portion of the way home on the plate from my Saturn. No problems.

Agreed with these guys.

I brought my Miata back from Ontario to PA w/the tags from my Mazdaspeed Protege.

Besides, even if you get caught with no plate, or the wrong plate, as long as you have the title, chances are the fine is only going to be about 150. Where as getting caught with forged documentation you're probably looking at some jail time.

DO NOT PUT ANOTHER PLATE ON IT!!!!!!!

you get in way less trouble for no plate than a fake plate.

Drive it with out a plate with title in hand. if you get pulled over you just bought it and your driving it home plain and simple.

I do that with every car ive bought and never had a problem.

False and Fictitious Plates.. been there, done that. I know in Indiana, it's a $100 fine, in Kentucky it's a $200 fine. YMMV!

The KY one was on a jet ski. :duh:

why not just jam a screwdriver into the ignition, and drive it off instead of paying for it? Make sure and post it on the internet.

Don't put a plate on it. Have insurance(more important then the plate), title and any other supporting documents in hand. Thats how we do it.

Personally, I think it is better to get caught with a bill of sale and no plates, than to put your plates on a car that is not registered to you. Immediately, they will think the car is stolen. CHiPs patrol will own you!

Don't forget that the car gets impounded, then sold at auction afterward if you don't pay the ransom storage charges...

It is an M2 here in Florida. Max is 60 days county jail and a $500 fine. Might want to check the laws in cali first.
