Same thing with ones beliefs or lack thereof. You do your thing and I'll do mine, leave me alone and I'll leave you alone. I don't understand how some people can have so much RAGE against another person simply because their belief systems are different.

On a related note... I was out with friends many years ago and we decided to get ice cream. This one chick stated that she didn't like ice cream and refused to accompany the group to the ice cream shop. I jokingly referred to her as a "Militant Ice Cream Atheist" and she got ALL crazy to the point of verbally and damn near physically attacking me in a parking lot. The evening ended on that note. Turns out she was raised a fundie and mere act of associating her actions to any type of atheism was enough to send her off the pants-on-head deep end. I honestly had no idea until she went sideways like that and I lost a lot of respect for that way of thinking.

Also, we do hold back, or at least I do. We don't just **** on everything all the time, just some of the time.

 

I **** on things when I feel it's needed. I do find myself becoming a bit more confrontational lately. I'm sick of atheists in this country being treated like some sort of insane people. Outside of this country, in the rest of the modern world, atheists and their fellow men, ones of faith, live together, as equals... and make up a much more close to equal number I at least try to **** on people with a little respect and understanding.

i think the reason athiests get so angry is for the same reason 37% of all posts on miataturbo are people hassling n00bs. think about that for a minute.
