Traded the Miata on a daddy-mobile
Yeah so I figured I'd give it a shot at a stealership since this local one has been hyping up high trade-ins. They had an 05 Scion xb with rims and window tint out front, so I thought...what the hell. Well they ended up giving me 4k for the 2001. Keep in mind it's been in an accident, has hail damage, paint is almost fully faded on trunk and driver-side fender, needs alignment, a/c doesn't work worth a ****, tires are bald, top was ripped and fixed crappily with silicon, interior has cigarette damage, is at 91k and really needed to have the tb/water pump done, and is making a really loud pinging noise when pressing the gas. So yeah...I doubted I would ever sell it private and even so...4k is what I had it listed at.
Got the Scion for 10k. It's a local with 1 owner, 74k, and standard. It has the ground effects, trd rims, tint, aem intake, and trd exhaust. Not saying I'm really into modding a fwd 1.5l van but it's a nice plus to have tasteful things. So as it stands I owe 7k before financing. I'm going to really try to push the sale of my 97 so I can get, hopefully, 5 or so out of it and then only owe a tiny bit on the loan. Now before you talk ****, I picked something I knew I would drive but definitely not mod. I could have easily bought a wrx or something a lot cooler but I would be way too tempted to work on it. So this seems to be a nice median. Pics included:

your life on this forum has been irrefutable been a systematic, abject failure. It started with snake bitten cooter and culminated into a shitbox child-support chariot. Its amazing how a thin little piece of latex can ensure so much success in life.

Fun fact - the Toyota bB was designed to mimic the Chevy Astro van's appearance. Apparently the Japanese like the "style" of the Astro. I had a Japanese friend when I was in Florida who thought it was awesome that my mom owns an Astro and didn't understand why I thought it was a pile. So when I read that the bB had been modeled after the Astro I wasn't surprised.

Well, obviously not everyone's favorite car, but at least you're moving in the right direction, kudos. I drove an '07 tC when I was shopping for cars and liked it. Not as good gas mileage as the mazda3 or lancer that I eventually bought, but it was a 2.4, unlike the others 2.0s. It's built for shorter people though, visor was right in my line of site.
