I recently broke my hand, and typing is tough. I need to write a fairly sizeable paper, and could go for some good free to cheap voice recognition software, where I don't have to spell it out. I has vista. Any ideas from the guys around here that are tech savvy?
I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking daily and works great too! Most docs that I work with use Dragon NS for dictation notes.

I use it for work, because I've been doing lots of documentation. Saves me time, even though I type quite quickly. Works pretty well.
Get Dragon v11 used from Amazon for $45.
Follow the training tips, go through the tutorial. Use a USB "soundcard" such as the Turtle Beach Amigo II if your laptop or PC mic input is noisy.

Vista has a built-in voice recognition that you might try using first.

Yeah, I know dragon is probably better.
