Cali people will probably know better if you could get away with running the SR20 turbo without being noticed.
Still need a sticker and paperwork from begi, possibly other stuff, and I'm pretty sure they don't give it to you unless that know you have all the stuff...

I'm running a pathetic 8psi right now and it is not even close to enough. A money pit is in my future. Go big or go home.

I started with a greddy turbo and was fully spooled at 3krpm. I never really felt the rush of torque. So i upped it to a 2860rs .86 and am currently building the car for tracking. Should hit like a freight train for a 1.6L.

I run the SR20 turbo with a seperated gas down pipe, and I passed with flying colors.

Quoted for Absolute truth.

This is a GT28 Chinacharger 2nd gear pull on Crnrhrd's car to give you an idea of how quickly the turbo spools:

The first week I think around 200hp is a huge thrill everytime you step on it. It'll wear off and you'll want more. Wait until you get beat by something you KNEW you'd own..

assuming these are DD/Dynapack/Mustang #s...
track:
If you're a man, you should be the fastest street car on the track aside from Vettes...most Fierrari drivers are posers. At 250whp, if you're not the fastest street car on the track, then you're a ------.

street:
Boring as ****. 250whp is where the fun begins. At 275whp, you can run with a c6z06

Serious question (I know I've been posting stupid comments all day, but I am curious):

How come guys who can't put down the power they have are still saying that they want more power? How much faster do you want the car to swap ends?

Or is it just shorthand for saying "I want more tire and better suspension, and more power to take advantage of that extra grip."? If you can already break the rear tires loose most of the time, isn't more power academic until you arrange for more rubber on the road?

You gotta learn how to pedal the throttle to maintain the limits of traction.

Its fun 'n all to spin and make smoke or w/e but if you really know how to drive you dont spin much, you pedal it until you can fully hook up.

Youre must faster hooking up at 80% throttle than you do at WOT while the tires are spinning.

1.8L on T4-50 trim is just barely enough at 13 PSI.... Can't get more fuel out of 460s with stock pressure and the rods probably don't want any more.

Yea I like the sounds and the rush about 3500 RPM. Who races below that anyway?

Because I'm on shitty kumho's til they wear out and once I get some sticky dr's or even slicks the traction problem will either disappear or be very minimal.

And I was being half sarcastic about 250whp being slow: it will surprise the hell out of just about anyone on the street.

I'm having PLENTY of fun enjoying the car at its current power level. Then I will enjoy it some more at 300.

After that? you're right: best way to go is LSx

sad thing is, even if i was able to afford an lsx swap, i would have to register it out of state and all i have heard about that kind of thing just ends up badly save one experience.

so almost everyone here is unsatisfied with the power their making above 220? lets hope i can get past the curve otherwise i will have a very bleak financial future

I'm happy at my power level. My car can run in the 270+ RWHP range but I only run 5-7 PSI low 200's. To me thats an ideal HP level for a miata 220-230 range

People not satisfied with 250whp out of a miata will not be satisfied out of any power level out of any car. Its a disease

Truthiest thing ever said.

I thought I'd be happy with 5, then 8, then 10, now I'm seriously considering building a motor so I can run 15-20. Or selling my car and swapping a smallblock into an FC and bolting two turbos to the ******. Point is, if you are seeking to make your car faster JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT IT TO BE FASTER, you need to seriously asses your level of self control.

I'm more than happy at 11psi at 252whp...there is no reason to turn up the boost on the street or track. Its "blitzed" the tires on the shitty Bilstein/GC set up in 3rd gear with tire smoke, on the Tein flex for some reason it hooks-up in 2nd. I need to pu 18psi through my ABSURDflow **** just to see what if feels like. I'll do that after I put the car on the dime at the track at 11psi. Less power=more transmission life.
