For range use/safe - home defense use/ possibly competition use... a safety would just be a problem.

Plus... they come with thumb safety versions now.

I don't really like thumb safeties for the reason you listed.... but the trigger being the only one(especially the m&p style) makes me a bit nervous. the Combo of the grip+trigger on the xD made me more comfortable with the thought of carrying it on me for concealed carry. IE, gotta be holding it right for it to fire.

True, I can't CCW though. So for my situations more = bad.

I like the M&P but they are further down the list.

As for safeties, its a muscle memory thing. What you practice is what you do under stress and thats why repetitive practice ensures that. I thumb off my Baby Eagle without any issues.. If you want the best of both worlds.. 1911 gives you the options to choose for yourself...

How do you like the P99? I am a big fan of Walther's because they always seem to fit perfectly in my hands. a P99 or PPS will probably be my next pistol purchase.

I own a Bushmater AR-15, Walther PPKS, Walther P22, and a Keltec P3AT.

The 1911 was not "clean", I did my homework before buying. This P99 is as good as new. I really like it. It fits my hand like a glove, I like the clip release (can't be pressed accidentally), I don't like the safety though. 9mm ammo can be found anywhere these days and is cheap compared to the .45ACP. Oh, and its easier on the arm when shooting. 16 round mag is also nice, I have two just in case.

I had a PPS in .40 and had nothing but problems with it, ended up getting rid of it. Loved the size/ergonomics of it though.

Aren't the Black Talons about 20yrs behind the ballistics curve?

Get some Bonded PDX1 (latest and greatest) or Ranger SXT (replacement for Talons).

Yep, however the novelty of Black Talons is still a hard thing to deny.

Not exactly the same though. Didn't they improve spread pattern on the SXT? And yah, I knew the joke version of SXT

Please tell me "sharper" is a scientific term and that it really makes a difference and I'll raise you seven more rounds.

Where I'm from, I'd consider that far too heavy and bulky to conceal in shorts and a T-shirt. They aren't any good if you don't have them with you when you need them. Florida is a tough state to conceal in in the summer.

Trenchcoat 'err day.

Nah, I've got a few other things up my sleeve. As far as the weight and bulk of the M627 goes, I think it's a burden worth bearing because it's easily worked around and the **** goes clap, clap, clap.
