Im digging this one up from the grave. I just bought a Taurus tracker .22 Mag for dirt cheap and I figured it would be a great starter gun. Its my first gun and I have fired S&W 357 mags with .38 and .357 rounds, a S&W .38 special, S&W .44 mag with a god awful wooden grip, A Glock 9mm, Beretta 96 FS .40, and a .22 ruger MKII and the big daddy, S&W 500.

I want to get either an S&W 686 or .44 and eventually the S&W 500 for hunting. Do you guys have any reputable places that can do some barrel porting or where I can get custom barrels made for the 357 or .44?

I have an SKS... the ultimate zombie weapon. Chews up the shittiest ammo, reliable, fairly accurate, cheap cheap ammo. A bit bulky for urban combat, but would do nice out in the country, which is where I would probably go if **** hit the fan.

 

Im running the Ruger SR-556 and a Ruger .380 LCP pea shooter. Lots of reliable fun.
Ive been picking up all my ammo from cheaperthandirt.com they have some pretty sweet deals.

 

i picked up a Ruger p95 on monday and tuesday i paid for my Springfield XDm45. should have that in a couple days.

might be a while till i buy another gun but right now its either going to be an ar-15 or the new Springfield Range Officer 1911. future guns will include an AK and a 50AE D-Eagle

Anyone have any luck selling high-priced guns? I have a NIB blue label competition model AR-15 Sporter that I bought the day the original gun ban was voted in. Never even out of the plastic. I'd like to sell it, but any stores I've taken it to want a huge cut (like 20%), and won't price it high enough to even cover what I paid for it.

I don't know anyone with an FFL anymore, either.

 

I've always bought factory ported revolvers when I owned a ported revolver. I don't think I would have a gunsmith do it at a local gun shop. Too much to f-up.

Have you thought about using manly wrists instead?

Dude manly wrists or not, the 500 packs a helluva punch.

 

Most 500s are factory ported. Some rounds are better suited to long guns instead of pistols/revolvers. If you aren't hiking in the Rocky Mountains with raw meat strapped to your loins I'd say you might be overreaching a bit with a 500. I understand what it is like to be excited by nice guns but having lived in Florida for a few years I can say it is difficult to conceal big guns in humid weather attire. And they don't help you much if they are out in your car and you are not. And it is difficult to find a good place to keep a really big gun in a Miata while driving where it is out of sight, accessible, and won't move around.

 

You can sell it on gunbrokers. You can also find a good FFL on there as well. My local gun shop wanted $75 for FFL (I was getting one shipped to them). I found a guy who does it for $15 on gunbrokers.

 

How much are you asking for it? I've got a buddy in NY that might be interested in it. Lives in Binghamton.

My Inhereted baretta is field stripped in a shoe box 4000 miles from my house. I will never understand people who spend so much time/money on devices built to kill/maim other people. Then go on and on about freedom and christian values. When I lived in new orleans the baretta was under my pillow just in case, as it was free and that is a dangerous town. But why I would need 7,8,9 or 35 different guns is beyond me. Target shooting is one thing, hunting is another, but dreaming up "when the **** goes down" fantasies and buying up assault rifles and hollowpoints is frankly terrifying.

#2 -- I have no problem reconciling my Christian beliefs nor my pro-freedom stance with my gun ownership (on the contrary, in fact, they go hand in hand), but you are free to disagree. You are also free to not understand it. Fortunately, you only have the power to make that decision for yourself, and not for others.

 

They are toys to some people, just like cars. A lot of gun enthusiasts think playing with cars is the dumbest **** ever.
