After 7 years of reliable use my Alienware Intel P4 burned up the processor, and MB. Too many years of running it over clocked on a small power supply with a big graphics card. And I am sure it didn't help that the front cooling fans were completely plugged up.
Went up to Fry's picked up a power supply, MSI mother board, an AMD Athalon processor, and 2 gigs of DDR2 for $200. Now my old PC has new guts, and is running like it was new.

Still think I ended up with a better deal.
I reused my 16x DVD, DVD +-R burner, 100 gig hard drives setup in raid, a 1 gig nvidia graphics card, and D-link wireless ethernet card.
Sure I am running XP, but it is rock solid.
Plus I got to keep my ever so cool red Alienware tower LOL

I remember when we got rid of all the IBM XTs and went to Dell Dimensions here at work. Since I was in charge of ordering them, my machine ended up being speced a little higher than the other 6
