Here's the thing, Matt: if you're gonna do something stupid, like build a wanna-be drift miata, you're gonna need some thick skin and ability to accept the fact that most people will think you're a moron.

I suppose that, on top of being 16, with your dad not letting you drive the car until your 25...

Having a minimum of a 9 year long build thread = extremely thick skin necessary.

18psi 12-03-2013 11:01 AM

 is that for real?

Yes. According to him previously, it's because the insurance company will not let him drive the can until age 25 because it's on a classic car policy for some reason.

And insurance companies don't like kids with permits driving "classics."

why would you put a shitty miata on a classic car insurance? I was the primary driver on our miata since 1998 since it was the cheapest car to insure a 16 year old...

That's a great question, and a question that becomes more pressing when you see this particular car.

I believe the answer has something to do with "The 16 year old isn't insured on anything because he doesn't have his license."

People here generally aspire to make cars "perform" better; make more power, go faster, handle better, stiffer, lighter, reliable, etc.

They generally do not like ricers, or amateur drifters, or madtyte jdm hellaflush stance.

People aren't generally going to hate on you for being poor, or young, or wanting to do something as frugally as possible. They're going to hate on you for doing dumb stuff that doesn't make the car function better.

Times have changed my man, and its cheaper and parents policy only allows 5 cars. They had a hard time getting my s10 on there. I dont wanna go over the insurance shit again lol. What insurance did you use?
