I've used state farm since day 1, still use them.

if you're having trouble insuring cars, you guys need to learn how to drive without getting tickets/accidents. Hell, most miatas are even worth insuring but for liabilty.

Can't say i've ever heard of a policy that restricts the amount of cars you're allowed to have.

When you know how insurance works, you know that it's in their best interest to insure as many cars as possible. This is how they make money.

Sounds like your parents view you as a gullible kid and it really works out for them in terms of giving an excuse as to why they won't allow you to drive "your" car.

I'm the only person on a policy with 4 cars, I had to non op my old miata to switch. My old insurance company kemper didnt seem to have a limit I was up to 6 cars at one point. However when I switched to mercury they made me drop one their only reason being that they didnt trust that I would be the only one driving that many vehicles. I dont think this is the case in OP's situation.

Doesn't matter if they trust it... if there's no official limit, then they can't limit you. Supply documentation and don't roll over next time.

I have 6 cars insured right now.

Joe started this thread off strong, but it quickly took a left turn.

Remove "weld the diff" from your to do list and you will gain brain points. It makes cars corner very poorly and can actually get you killed in the rain.

My guess is that OP's family doesn't like the idea of insuring him as the primary driver on a car. At least up here, generally if you have, for example, three cars and three drivers in a household, the insurance companies will expect each driver to be primary driver on one of the cars. That costs more money than being added as an occasional driver onto a policy.

It's another problem that can be solved by finding a job that pays more than $4/hr. I have no idea why someone would agree to working for so much under minimum wage, unless they don't understand that an $8/hr job doesn't incur a 50% tax rate. That's before even considering things like what happens when you get injured at a job that's off the books.

We haven't gotten into the fact that someone who doesn't even have a lisence yet has no business worrying about building a car for performance. Do you know the phrase, "Learn to walk before you run?" Right now you're somewhere near the "sit up without drooling all over yourself" phase. Yeah, I know: at 16 you think you're hot **** on the street. I remember thinking I was going to be the next rally champion because I was on my learners, could get the car moving without stalling it, and survived getting the car sideways around some turns. I know now that I didn't know ****, and am lucky as **** that I didn't hurt anyone or their property. Recklessness is not the same as skill.

TL;DR - The proper order of operations: Make money, get legal to drive, learn how to drive, build car, **** bitches.

You're 16. Insurance isn't going to be cheap, and if you're making $4/hr, then a car shouldn't really be top priority.

if you have a goal of getting with women, spending time/money on something that will only impress men isn't a good way to go about it.
