Do you guys have a FFL, or are you getting some dealer to order them for you?

I just went to my local shop for my bare lower receiver. I realized by the time I had it sipped/paid for FFL transfer it was almost the same cost. And I can support local business... which I typically skip due to cost.

I go through an FFL here specifically because of where I live here in New Orleans. The 2 LGS near me won't receive from the major online retailers so I don't patronize them. My FFL has an indoor range that he allows up to .308, so I can shoot the same time I pick up. He'll even give you some counter space so you can clean/prep a gun before you fire it.

My FFL in Virginia Beach charges $15ea, or $10ea for 2 or more transfers.

Hehe, my indoor range has tested the backstop with 50bmg

My 'deal' FFL does 20 per transfer since I've done business with him before. Typically its 40+ at other FFLs.

Ugh I hate IL.

I have a homeboy with an FFL and he just hooks it up for $1 + $5 for the FDLE background check.

Have 1k rounds of TulAmmo .223 and 5000 rounds of the cheapest ---- bulk .22lr through my recent sub $500.00 5 pound AR build. Zero oil, zero cleaning, zero malfunction, hasn't fallen apart yet.

Here's something funny.... my Colt won't eject anything non-brass now. What a piece of trash..

It doesn't make sense. I've shot a ---- load of garbage russian crap through that Colt in the past, now suddenly it doesn't want to cycle properly?? It'll usually remove the spent casing and fail to chamber the next round, but sometimes fails to even extract the fired casing from the chamber. Tried a couple different Colt magazines, some brownells, crappy pmag, and a Chinese metal mag which made no difference. Brass functions perfectly, steel doesn't. Stripped the rifle down and cleaned it top to bottom, even broke down the BCG and scrubbed every orifice and part then CLP'd everything as normal. First three rounds of steel cycled perfect then it quit again.

Solution is simple... I'll just run brass through it like my H&R Handirifle, which won't eject steel after the bull barrel heats up.

Have you checked the health of the extractor? It is one of the few components I'd guess would take a beating running the steel stuff.

Looks fine, clean and free of any damage I can see with my eyes. I'll swap bcg's next time I go out and see if that makes any difference.

I took my CC piece (9mm Kahr CW9) to the range along with a friends Rugger SR22. It made me think that I might want to get something a little more accurate and with a bigger mag capacity. So I've been thinking about going to a smaller cal. Whats the smallest any of you would carry? I mean a gun is pretty intimidating even if it is a .22, but if it actually needs to be used is a .22 gonna even do anything? I've heard that its not uncommon for people to get shot and ether not feel it (because of adrenaline) or just not care. I have a buddy who was a NJ state trooper who got popped with a .22 shoved behind his vest and he still beat the ---- out of the guy and cuffed him.

Check out youtube for surveillance videos of shootings. There's one of some asian guy who gets 3 .357 mag rounds pumped into his chest at point blank range, yet the guy was still alive enough to start swinging a bat. Hollywood scenes of one small caliber round to the chest and they're incapacitated is complete horsecrap.

I would worry more about ability to penetrate clothing, winter coats and the like more than capacity. Some nasty 9mm is the smallest I would carry. My best friends father is a cop, last winter he was called to the scene of a bar shooting where to gangstas pulled their pieces in the parking lot and emptied them into each other. Both wearing their big fluffy marshmellow man fatfuck gangsta jackets and the pieces in question were a .32acp and a .25acp. Neither one had a single round penetrate their jackets. Food for thought.

I seen an african american gentleman take a .32 ACP to the dome, just to have it tunnel around under his scalp and exit the skin under the back of his head
