It feels fine to me. AFAIK, and I am in no means an expert on these things, there are no 922r compliance rules concerning pistols. Only rifles and shotguns. I have seen several with replacement pistol grips (ergonomic finger grips) but I have assumed it was only bling.

Kind of cool and related.

**** YEAH!!! I go away for a couple of weeks and this thread is in full swing! I'm stuck out here on the ship for awhile longer. Hopefully back before deer season!

At least the internet is holding up... so well in fact, that I bought the first pieces of my AR10 cruise present.

Syrac gas block + tube
Hogue Grip
DPMS LPK
Thread protector

I got good pricing due to birthday month special pricing and then used a $30 off $200 from Midway. They just got some new-fangled shipping system and that only cost $3.26. I got some other stuff too, couple new pairs of shears and some gun-cleaning stuff.

Still undecided on the stock. I wanted the RRA Operator A2 but am now back to wanting a good adjustable. Tube will be a plain DPMS vented. Receivers will be from Aero Precision and I'm going big on the barrel... Ranier Arms Ultramatch. It should be a great deer run out to 400yds or so, and plenty of precision out to the limits of the ammo I can make. Total minus optics looks like about $1250 in my hands. An SWFA 12xSS is leading the pack in scope choice, but I'm taking a close look at some of the lower-end Leupolds from the Mil/Leo discount program.

Well the mosin muzzle brakes are proven clamp on and CNCed from aircraft grade aluminum, so far fired 50 rounds through it successfully... but they do make custom thread ons and weld ons, just gotta call em'.

Does that mean yours is held on by set screws? Not sure what clamp on means???

this is their final prototype pic, and the brake has a very tight machine tolerance, no wiggle room-- but it has clamping screws

You guys are such a lucky bastards

If I had a thread like this over here in any forum I would get banned and probably go to jail. Europe is a **** regarding law in firearms. You can´t have one without a license (and to get that license you have no idea what you have to do to gen one ) and then, you can´t use in any way.

That brake would not work on my Obrez due to the ring on the replacement sight. Hmmm....

Well she might notice if you just leave it out laying on the floor.

I went out to Laguna Seca this weekend and rather than drive the track, I put about 250 rounds through a fresh AR build (public range)

Upper
  1. BCM Standard 16" Mid Length (LIGHT WEIGHT) Upper Receiver Group
  2. BCM Low Profile Gas Block (625)
  3. BCM Bolt Carrier Group (MPI)
  4. BCM "Gunfighter" Mod4 (medium) charging handle
  5. Midwest Industries SSG2 Rifle Length (15") Flat Top Free Float Handguard
  6. Daniel Defense Fixed Front/Rear Sight
  7. A2 muzzle device
Lower
  1. Franklin Armory multi-cal lower
  2. really shittly LPK
  3. MagPul MOE+ Grip
  4. Milspec 6 position stock tube
  5. MilSpec standard carbine buffer and buffer spring
  6. VLTOR adjustable stock
  7. CA compliance Bullet Button

I built this out of the desire to have a lightweight AR build to go with the 20" Rifle build I posted some months ago. It fits the bill quite well though I don't have a weight on it yet. After about 20-30 rounds or so it decided it wanted to be a rifle and functioned as a well oiled machine should. Recoil is a little higher than I expected, but its not ridiculous.

I'm not sure I like the stock so that might get changed. I really like the rifle length sight radius compared to the midlength and carbines I've fired so the uber-long MI rail stays. I don't know if its just a really bad one or what, but the trigger/sear set in the LPK I put in this rifle is GARBAGE. I want to say its a DPMS but I'll have to check my notes. Its seriously the grittiest trigger I've ever felt in any firearm ever. There is a chance I'm just incredibly spoiled by the 2 Stage National Match trigger in my aforementioned 20" build, but this one is seriously junk. I'm not real happy with my 10 round CA compliance magazines either but there is not much I can do about that. Apparently Colt makes some 9 round (wut?) factory mags that are supposed to be flawless so I may have to pony up for a few and see what's up.

I'm happy with the build overall, but the trigger/sear will need to be gunsmithed or replaced.

Pics tonight if my ADD does not find a way to distract me.

I had a VEPR in 7.62x54r and an RPK (AES-10B) in my shopping cart for the past two days. Logged on this morning and they were both gone. Not a happy camper right now.

At least I bought 2000 rounds of 7.62x39 for $0.21 / round a week ago. Can't believe 24 hours made that much of a difference. I knew the cheap prices were too good to last but I didn't pull the trigger fast enough. Oh well, bought three AK platform rifles and around 20,000 rounds in the past three months. I should have purchased more but ran into a little problem with my accountant (wife) not fully paying off the Visa bill. That was enough to make me stop acquiring for a bit and miss out on some deals.
