Think I'm about to pull the trigger on this. Can't pass up the price for a configuration that's 95% of what I want (middy, lightweight but not pencil barrel, chrome lined).
Mid-Length A2 Profile Premium Madness - 16'' CMV Chrome-Lined Stripped Upper - Without BCG or Charging Handle
I've already got a BCM charging handle. Need a BCG. Anyone know of a source cheaper than $130?

$120 is as cheap as you're going to find a complete BCG, +/-shipping. At that price, I've seen a few that have no markings or stamps on it, so make sure you're buying from a name brand retailer. DSA was the first to come to my mind too.
PSA has their "madness" sales at least once a quarter and are always outstanding prices. That $279 is tought to beat for a mid-length upper-minus. PSA has good shipping prices too.
All said and done, it's TOUGH to assemble a complete upper for under $400 because you have to pay shipping everywhere you order a part... so you can find the parts from 5 different places for $350, then it's another $10 a pop for shipping. Then it's your time , waiting, and actual labor to assemble everything, etc... not too big a deal for some poeple. There are lots of COMPLETE UPPERS incl BCG/CH for right at $400 right now though... and you can have your choice of tacticool forends and **** as long as you're not a snob and insist everything has to be DD/YHM.
Be sure to add JoeBobOutfitters to your list of online sites to keep track of... join their mailing list too. They are very "forum supportive" with group buys, have cheap or free shipping, and support the military/LE community as well as any online retailer I've found.

I need to find a local-ish FFL that won't charge me $75 + $25 DROS to receive "current production items" on his FFL. ****** "can't get anything" through his distributors and the extra $75 pretty much kills any online deal I may stumble across. This **** is ridiculous

In Louisiana, Florida, and Virginia, I've never been charged more than $20 for a transfer, never paid sales tax, and never been treated as anything other than an extremely valuable customer, since when receiving a transfer, I always buy something else in the store, like a new holster or some cleaning products or a box of specialty ammo (I can always use more 9mm snake-shot) or whatever. I'd be treated awesome anyways because I'm an awesome type of guy.
On the other hand, I hope you support Calguns and SAF. They do better work for Cali gun owners than the NRA based on what I've seen in the last few years. I don't know if the NRA is just leaving Cali alone because there's nothing more they can do that's not already being done or what.
California wants their cut from on gun-sales like they want their cut on everything... hey, how are you gonna pay for free medical care for illegals when illegals send all their money back to their families in Mexico. Nothing in California will change until the state goes completely broke. By being a contributing member of the economy there, you are prolonging the inevitable, and only to your own demise.

My new M&P15 has shipped... should be here tomorrow. I won't be able to go pick it up until next week though since my Mom is in town, and if the wife finds out, I will probably have to find a new place to sleep for a week.
But the 300blk bug has already bitten me. Have 2 routes to go to buy/build an upper for $300 (minus bcg/ch, which you can use from your .223). A buddy of mine has a .30cal suppressor... so I've got a big bone over being able to hunt suppressed.
Now I'm gonna need 2 optics... WANT a Primary Arms piece, but will probably go with a Bushnell TRS-25 for now for the .223, especially if I get the 300blk upper, cause will need a decent hunting scope for that.
I'm looking at the Weaver NitrexTR-1 3-9x42 from Natchez for $119... great reviews for a bargain scope. Either that or a Nikon Prostaff for about $150. My buddies are all gun-snobs, so no matter what I buy, if it's not a Niteforce or Leupold, they'll continue to think I'm cheap.

Grrr. Local guy posted up a 22rd Glock 22 magazine with 20 rds of HP ammo on armslist yesterday for $30. I figured that was perfect, I'd get an extra magazine plus some cheap ammo to test out the Glock 22 I just put together. Text once, get a sentence reply, text again, another sentence reply...text a third time trying to pin down time and place to meet....and nothing.

Awesome Sam! I want a 300AAC badly, just not looking forward to feeding it ammo!!!
Going with the DSA complete upper cause I have a spare BCG and charging handle laying around.
DSA ZM4 Forged 7075T6 A3 AR15 Upper Receiver; 300BLK - ZM4CBU300-D S Arms
Can't really do much better for $320 and I'm a little on the broke side when it comes to money for hobbies, but this didn't help matters:

I hate to say it... but you either need to be a cop or move. In Cali, your FFL is also required to charge sales tax on the item if purchased in another state. Firearms sales in Cali are BIG BUSINESS simply based on the population of the state. Can you imagine how much more money the state could collect on taxes if they didn't make it so hard to buy guns in general.

- CalGuns gets my money
- Boy Scouts (local council) gets my time
- Red Cross gets my blood

Anyone have any use for about 10 boxes (200rnds) of factory Remington 6.8 SPC 115gr OTM? I bought this in AZ about 2 years ago for a friend of a friend who then stiffed me and moved out of state. They have been sealed in an ammo can in my garage for the duration. Make me an offer, I'd like to make something back on these.

In general Kansas sucks too. CRAAAAZY climate extreme swings, terrible roads with constant construction, and overall generally rude people not to mention KCMO's crime rate... Westboro Baptist Church... But I can't really come up with another place I'd enjoy living so I'm sorta stuck. One good thing is the cost of living isn't crazy high here, even if we do have $4/gallon gasoline now.
They are indeed 9's and I can't wait! Wheels are still at my buddies shop and I'm sitting at my desk wishing they were on my car even though I still have to roll fenders and adjust ride height but I'm foaming at the mouth anyway!

Just sold my G17 to a co-worker, for the price I paid for it, which was a steal for her since I pay LE prices... decided that I really didn't need a full-size 9mm nite-stand gun and a PF9 for carry. While I love the PF9 for what it was, I've really been kidding myself that I shoot it well, or will be able to shoot it well under stress.
Our local police supply place is out-of-stock of Gen4 G19's, but as soon as they're in, I'll be getting one, and selling my PF9. Yup, consolidating a G17+PF9=G19 for my "do-everything" all the time gun. I'll EDC it and sleep next to it.

Yup, some guys who carry concealed have a dozen different guns they strap on depending on what they're wearing or are going to do.
When people refer to an EDC, they're talking about the gun they carry most, or the one that suits all occasions. I always thought that having multiple carry weapons just introduced more variables into the situation than were necessary. There are so many options out there that I currently can't see needing more than 2. You should be able to find a gun that meets 95% of your carry needs 95% of the time... and the other 5%, you just modify your needs until the gun you carry works for that occasion.
At any time I'm wearing a belt, which is every pair of shorts and pants I own, there's no reason I can't carry a gun as big as a G19 (hence, EDC). On days when I'm wearing swim-trunks, sweats, or something else that makes a belt impossible (almost never), then maybe something very small (Keltec P32) makes more sense, but I'll never go there. People need to decide for themselves whether being all feng-shui with their carry pieces is worth it. You still need to maintain proficiency with every gun, every draw-move, all the functions, sight-pictures, etc... and you need to do this under the most intense stress you've ever felt in your life, in the dark, quite possibly while hurt.
I am not a conspiracy theorist nor am I paranoid nor do I ever hope to need my concealed carry weapon, but the day may come when I do need it... and on that day, I will need it in my hand more than anything else I have ever needed, ever.
And so I better be so ******* good with it that it's like simply another piece of my body, and I can't do that if I have to make any conscious decisions about "Oh, what gun am I carrying today" before I draw. That's why I'm making the move to carry only one type of gun, for all occasions, at all times... the Glock 19.
My 2 cents anyways...

Tell him $400 without the mags, then put it on Gunbroker for $600. Throw in a free "Democrats Suck" sticker or Anti-Obama t-shirt and watch the bidding war go to $700. Then take the $300 you made and go to Midway:
AR Stoner 16" 300blk barrel. $200
DPMS Slickside receiver. $87
The gas-tube/handguard/gas-block/hider you may have lying around, but stick with UTG stuff to keep it cheap if you need to buy. The barrel-receiver combo there for under $300 is top-quality and that's what counts. There's a $35 off $300 Midway coupon code I found, which makes your handguard or gas-block free... you can certainly order a parts complete 300blk upper-minus for under $350 shipped.
I think I like the "piece it together" option better than a DSA since you can choose your own handguard and rail. I plan on using mine for hunting, and don't need any combat-type stuff, hence the slickside... I'll probably just get a thread protector too and skip any kind of flash-hider to save a few bucks... low-pro gas blocks are $10, or a railed UTG one is like $15... for shooting deer inside 300yds, bare bones lets me put a little bit more money towards a scope.
