Yet Another Gun Thread

I've met wine snobs, car snobs, cigar snobs and gun snobs. I think gun snobs are about the worst. Someone relays the fact that a new gun has renewed his interest in shooting and has brought someone new out to the range and they only have negative comments to make about him and the gun. Pitiful...

I'm not a gun snob in the traditional sense. I just believe certain weapons are configured in a way for a reason. The concept of a pistol grip or detachable box magazine was not a new one when old Sergei designed his rifle. It was designed one way for a reason.
I value Soviet engineering to Tapco; if a Tapco engineer boogers something up, meh, but if a Soviet engineer ***** something up, everyone he's ever associated with gets shipped off to Siberia.
I respect the design of some weapons but I believe that thinking you can do better is asinine.

My new SKS is lighter, more compact, can hold more rounds, has an adjustable stock, and can be equipped with a scope. There are many reasons why it may in fact be a better gun than it was 50 years ago. You cannot see that because you are a gun snob. You can't deny it because according to you every single AR15 (other than the one you have) is ****. So is every hand gun. I know many people who think putting a turbo on a Miata is asinine because it is already the perfect car. I get really tired of justifying my Miata to car snobs that I know. The same can be said about my Geo Metro (which I seem to remember you also thought was a stupid purchase). Because I am ---- I keep a spreadsheet listing every cent I have spent on guns, ammo, range fees, etc. I looked at it yesterday and noted that the 640 rounds of 7.62x39 were the first I have bought since my original purchase of 100 rounds on 3/30/09. In 2.5 years I still had not shot that first 5 boxes. The SKS was just collecting dust. Now it (my new one) is actually getting used. I don't see how that could be a bad thing in any way.

Found a great deal on a used Sig Mosquito today. Problem is the guy doesn't have time to meet me any closer and it'd cost $80 in fuel for me to drive and get the damn thing negating any point in buying it used.
Christ dude, are you an accountant? Thought I was a cheapskate.. I don't keep track of that stuff, that way I don't know how much I've spent.
I just look at it this way- Its your gun and I don't have to like it or even shoot it. If it suits your purpose, that's what matters.
Will agree that Mikhail Kalashnikov built a perfectly operational rifle using the parts he spec'd out. Unfortunately for us stupid Capitalist pigs and our stupid ******* government, we can't possess his creation in all its glory. Forced by stupid draconian liberal policies and left wing scare tactics we're forced to change out parts of the firearm to make them compliant to some stupid ******* laws. Sadly that means Tapco gets some of my money indirectly for some of these silly *** parts like fire control groups and pistons.

I don't keep track of **** because then I'd realize how much money I'm taking away from other bullshit I'm into. As far as preferences, I know what's the best -- **** everything else. I will say my Five-Seven is a huge pile of ****. I hate this thing more than I hate Hi Points.
I'm happy that you're finally able to go out and shoot instead of spending your time hacking up weapons. It's a hell of a concept, isn't it?
Is that rifle even 922r compliant?

I'd be jealous, those are nice rifles.
Been wanting an SGL12 for a while now but can't seem to get my hands on one to shoot before making my decision to buy.. Found a few used for fair prices lately but back to the same problem...

This guy is obviously bias in favor of the 5.45, and I 100% disagree with his obviously one sided opinion of Pmags. I have 5 or 6 pmags, they all hold 31 rounds.
With 29, 30, and 31 rounds I dropped one of the magazines 10 times on my cement floor and not a single round came out.

Scientifically for antipersonnel I'll agree 100%, along with the awesome cost. Stock up, you know that **** will go up real soon.
