I meant the guy who bought from him.

I bought a 5pk of Andersons for $250 ($50ea) a month ago and have now sold 4 of them for $70ea... I've got one left and that deal is about closed... gonna essentially "make" $20ea on them. That wasn't my intention... I was gonna keep them for whatever the near-term future held with Hilldog.

Most LGS's in town have Andersons on the shelves for $60-$80... but one LGS does a deal if you buy 5. I don't know if the guys who've bought these from me know they can buy them cheaper, or if they just like FTF deals.

HOWEVER... just this week, I saw that the prices for Aero lowers drop at a few stores... they used to be $80-$100, but one LGS does 2xAero's, 2 C-products mags, and a .50cal ammo can for $150. I found an LGS selling for $60ea and bought 2 from them. I'm gonna do another set of beater-builds, but this time with some better parts.

The Aero Gen2's have a nice magwell flare and a cool tension adjustment screw that you can use to take out all the play with the upper receiver... plus the coating is way better than the Andersons.

Burris is giving away free reflex sights when you buy one of their prism scopes:

"FREE FastFire III Reflex Sight with a purchase of Burris AR-332 or AR-536 Prism Sight between November 25, 2016 and December 31, 2016"

Seems like a decent deal. $349 for a 3x prism scope and a reflex sight.

Deals like that tells me that Burris is having a hard time selling one or the other of those products... or both. I've had a Nikon P223 3x fixed scope for about 2 range sessions before I sold it... I didn't like anything about it.

Also... sold the last of my Andersons... trading a guy the lower+$100+200rds of 9mm for a Geissele Tricon. It's no monetary deal for me, but I've had the ammo about 10 years and paid half of what white-box is going for nowadays, so I'm still ahead. The Tricon is going in my primary gun that already shoots 1MOA with 55gr handloads and an ALG QMS. I want to see if I can get some legit sub-MOA groups out of it with a new legit trigger.

Finally started my probationary course last Wednesday. Regulations around firearms here are so tight it's unbelievable. Certain rifles and shotguns, no handguns. At all.

Still did this:

.22LR rimfire single shot, standing up and using a bench rest, 25 metres, iron sights.

Shot a .308 bolt action with reduced powder load after, so much fun. Girlfriend loved it too so that's a plus :)

Are you originally from the states Oscar? If not, if you ever find yourself in this country and near Chicago look me up. I can take you to a nice outdoor range and let you shoot some fun stuff.

I'm sure there are others here from other areas in the country that would offer the same.

Miataturbo.net range visit sounds like a great idea.

I can host up to three (shooting) guests at a time at my club. Anything more than that only three can be touching firearms at a time OR I have to pay an RSO to hang out on our range while we shoot. Even then, it's very reasonable in regards to price but would take some scheduling and reserving some space on the range.

I'm not. Holland and now in the UK. 90% of my US gun legislation knowledge is from this forum :giggle:

Thanks for the offer :) This course I'm on will let me shoot some fun stuff over its duration, even though it's mostly small calibres or detuned large calibre rifles. In about 4 months I should be able to apply for a firearms certificate which would allow be to purchase some rifles, ammunition and access to various shooting ranges.

Maybe you all should make the drive here instead.
Unlimited touching... of guns, and no nanny state restrictions on features.

It's always good to see others enjoying the sport!

Continuing with my industry observations here, I've found a new low price-point on barrels... $61 for Anderson 16"... granted, they're Andersons, but just more signs that production might be outpacing demand starting MEOW and industry is trying to unload inventory while people are still in the Xmas shopping splurge.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a pistol safe? Preferably something that can be anchored to the wall.

EO2K 12-12-2016 12:11 PM

Whatever you decide to buy, spend some time on youtube watching videos about how to defeat small handgun safes. There are only 2-3 manufacturers of said safes and 90% of what is on the market is just those same 2-3 models repainted and sold under a different brand. Most can be defeated by dropping them on the ground or strategically poking it with a paperclip.

fooger03 12-12-2016 12:23 PM

I imagine if it's anchored to the wall, then there's not so much of a worry about dropping it.

My personal recommendation remains Gunbox.

https://www.thegunbox.com/

I've got the original; attractive enough to sit on the nightstand, unassuming enough that nobody will ever been microaggressed by it's presence. Biometric unit is 1-touch opening. It runs on electricity (motorized unlock, and fingerprint/RFID reader), but it's got a built in li-ion battery backup. I've taken it on a weekend trip before and it did just fine after 4 days of being unplugged.

Short of attaining the RFID key, james-bonding the fingerprint reader, or getting out the cut-off wheel, there's no way to "hack" this thing into opening - the locking mechanism is pretty much foolproof.

No issues for me with kids having access, just has to be cat proof. The main concern is apartment maintenance people or the random thug. I don't want it to be easy to walk off with. When I'm home at night, I'll just keep it in the nightstand drawer.

That being the case, just drill through the bottom of this and bolt it someplace.

I like the dual recoil springs, but where does the gas come from?
