I'm in for either.

Also, this...

Update from Speed Ventures for Sonoma 9/26-27/20

Group discount code MIATA2020 will get $20 of if they get more than 10 registered
No autocross allowed at Sonoma now
Adding a TT competition no problem. We just need to give them classes and make sure the drivers note their class during registration.
BBQ, no problem
Camping, no problem
Photo op on track. Unfortunately, Sonoma Raceway is a branded entity so any group photos showing Sonoma specific feature or architecture require prior approval. So, maybe.

My idea for classes are simple:
MX5-1: >15 lbs/hp. Lower 1lb/hp for 60tw or lower.
MX5-2: >10.1 lbs/hp.
MX5-3: <10 lbs hp. Anything that remotely resembles a Miata

Those feels when you can't even hit 15 lbs/hp bc TT6. Maybe Sonny will come beat me up in an equally slow car.

This sounds fun, I'm in for track camping and being slow.

That all sounds good to me! Also lol, Brad is at like 16lb/hp vs the LS car at 5lb/hp. It'll be fun whether there's a TT competition or not, I'm just happy we're actually getting something planned.

So I think that kind of decides it?

I'm thinking I might try for that Thursday prior at Thunderhill as well. Make a nice trip out of it and visit some family in Sacramento.

Would also give me a chance to run in the Super GT class if anyone else is planning on actually racing.

Didn't even know the laguna seca event was gone. Subbed, finished school finally so will actually get back into track days again.

Kind of sucks autox isn't allowed at Sonoma anymore, those were pretty fun, I got a ton of driving time for very little money compared to other autox events.

I think they had a few bad course designs and marshaling. In 2018 I recall a car lost control and hit a track car in the paddcok spot and nearly hit a spectator. I remember hearing the thump.. from the wrong side of the garage. Fully possible to build and run a safe autox in the space but it only takes one incompetent designer and manager to spoil it forever.

If we have interest in the TT, I'll try to round up a few sponsors to kick in some schwag.

Who is doing the T-Shirt & hat design? Gotta have those made so folks can wear them at the event.

I'm honestly not surprised, the few times I went there were some questionable decisions on track layout. Unnecessarily risky imo.

Miata Reunion 2020 date/location has been announced... thought it may be a factor for those considering attending the Sonoma weekend and hadn't seen it posted here on MT.net yet....

Oct 31-Nov 1 at Road Atlanta, registration to open June 20, 2020... no other details yet.

Miata Reunion 2020

I started a separate thread for the Reunion here.

I'm good with 9/26-9/27 at Sonoma. Possibly with the Thunderhill precursor as well.
