Default MATG 2023

Given my run of luck for the past two years I didn't post anything until I knew for sure. My relief showed up this time, I'm sitting in a hotel waiting to fly home tomorrow, so I will be at the event (barring any unforeseen hiccup). Who else will be there?

I'm going to try to make it for my first year. I'm at 6000 miles on the new engine and still not 100% comfortable with driving it that far, but I think I'm going to try to make it. I've got to fix a small oil leak and paint my new fender, but if all of that is addressed in time I plan on going. Trying to peer pressure a few miata buddies to go with me too.

I'm looking forward to meeting people from the forum and other online communities. I'd also like to get a ride in a few other cars. I'd like to see what ~350 whp is like and maybe hear some different turbo exhausts so that I can see what direction I want to take my car moving forward.

I'm going to try to make a (couple of) day trip(s) out of this...we'll see if FrankenMiata is up to the task.

Fine lol. Still thinking about trying to get a few extra parts and pieces in case something randomly ***** the bed. I believe I've heard that the main or fuel pump relay is a common failure point? Is there anything else that is relatively inexpensive that might be worth bringing? I've not replaced the fuel filter so I'll probably do that beforehand too.

Any additional tips or things to consider for a newbie like myself?

Depending on your level of paranoia;
  • 3/8" ratchet & socket set (w/ deep-well spark plug socket)
  • 10, 12, 13mm combination wrenches
  • Flat and phillips head screwdrivers
  • Vise grips and pliers
  • Cam position sensor
  • Crank angle sensor
  • At least one extra coil
  • Set of plugs (& wires)
  • Set of miscellaneous fuses
  • Quart of oil
  • Gallon of water (or, at least an empty jug)
  • Duct tape
  • Electrical tape
  • Hose clamps
  • Miscellaneous butt connectors
  • Wire stripper and crimp tool
  • Overalls (unless you like being dirty)
  • Kitchen sink

Made it home ok, been doing some work after I smelled gas strongly last Saturday while driving (and watching the fuel gauge drop a lot quicker than it should have). Everything taken care of (hopefully), just waiting on the day next week to drive down.

I've been thinking about MATG, and it had me wondering... any chance of someone having miataturbo stickers there? Somehow arranging a MT.net photo would be really cool too.

Another year, another fail. Sick engine, so I'll be at home.

Default Help

Hey guys. My buddy's turbo NB lost the oil feed (fitting separated).

Desperately looking for an oil feed. 36" minimum, 1/8 npt male to -4an female. Send me a PM if you've got one and you're here this weekend or within a reasonable drive.

Help me Obi-Wan
