What did the Porsche put down, 170? I don't know much about them in general but when I saw "Porsche" and "turbo" I was expecting more.

I thought I saw the monitor read 235. In fact I'm sure I saw it read 235, and the AFR's were 10 all the way across. Stupid rich.

Oh, that would seem more reasonable. I think they didn't wind it all the way out on the first couple pulls, and then I left to go look at another car while they did a few more pulls. I do remember it being crazy rich, guess that provides some safety margin for an air cooled engine.

Blown as in "it was ceased up", or blown as in "boosted"?
Not sure if this was serious or humor, cause if /\ then LOL.

The compression I did a couple of weeks ago was great (175 across all 4) so not sure what else could explain the low output.

Don't worry about it, that dyno is a heart-breaker. You just can't compare numbers from different types of dynos.

so that means the final gear ratio is important, as well as actually KNOWING what is the final gear ratio. is there a way to "re-calculate" what the dyno would have read with a 4.1 diff ratio setting (instead of 4.3 which is what Ed assumed).

assuming a linear relationship (this may be a faulty relationship), the mighty 83 whp would turn into 87 whp (which is probably closer to what I would expect of the engine).

nah he fixed yours because the redlines matched. the only thing it would chang ein this case would be the hp vs rpm. where the computer might have shown 85hp at 4k instead of 7k.

but i do think he did something odd when lars got strapped up, maybe he had the load turned up or something, but i do notice he doesn't run it like I'd expect on a dyno dynamics, where he would be WOT and turn the load on his controller to bring it to redline.

The dyno measures wheel torque and wheel rpm. The HP can be calculated from those 2 via HP = TQ * RPM / 5252. It doesn't matter what the ratio is. The only thing it affects is the RPM plot, like Brian said. So instead of 80 hp @ 4300 rpm you're actually 80 hp @ 4100 rpm.

I think if you are not in the 1to1 gear the amount of torque you output will be off. In lower gears you make more torque. Since the dyno measures torque and then uses the formula compute hp. So if you are not getting a correct torque value your HP will be off.

I looked, I am not running enough. I was hitting around 200kpa.
