What not to do on the track. - YouTube simply because of how slow the reaction time is in this video. Its almost as if he just wanted to roll.
So glad its nice and smooth now

Whether it was a normal car, with a normal front track width he still would've drilled him in the side. He got sideways and couldn't gather it up in time. Maybe the delta wing should've given more space when passing him, but still, it's a little ridiculous to flip the guy off after crashing him.

That's what I meant, it was a bad place to pass, plus he was crowding him when he did pass. So you are right, the blame can be spread. I was just commenting on giving the dude the bird. Is the delta wing still filling the prototype slot or whatever it is? Or is it actually racing other cars?

Bad place to pass - hell no. People pass on the top of 11 into 12 ALL the time - hell Batman was already side by side before the bridge when he got punted by Green Lantern. The Porsche guy should have been aware - if he honesty couldn't see the wing, then something needs to be done to the wing to make it much more obvious. The blaze orange mirrors and peaks of the cage aren't cutting it.
I think is that the Porsche driver had no idea batman was behind him as it's profile is so small - you got it right about being 'used' to normal car width...
Alos, his car might have also been upset b/c those 10b gators are rough and can be unforgiving - and he was all over them which might explain the 'sudden' jerk into the track. Watching the race, most stayed clear of them.
What's even more alarming is how easily that wing flipped... like my old Honda 3 wheeler.

I think that crash is just part of racing. I did not see anything that was blatantly wrong by either driver. The wing tried to make a tight pass and the other driver slightly lost control and they wrecked. It is just the nature of the sport.
On another note the wing finished 5th overall at Petit Le Mans which is rather impressive considering it started in the very back because it was a prototype. It passed 8 cars in the first lap.

Deltawing finishing 5th would be more impressive if it was the same weight as the other cars in its class. Being significantly lighter because it was a not bound by the rules that the competing cars were held to gives quite a bit of false hope to the design.

I thought the whole idea was for it to fit into classing via power to weight ratio hence while it is like half the weight it has half the horsepower. I haven't really researched it, but from the handful of articles I have read about it, that was the point of it in the first place.
