Inconel hardware.
Everything hot side needs too handle heat well with little expansion.

Sorry, I wasn't sure what to call the bolts :noob:, but I believe it would be the turbo flange bolts that actually hold the turbo to the manifold. I'm searching now, definitely planning on getting different hardware

there is so much discussion on this topic, that at one point there was a real threat of getting warned/banned if you asked about it without searching.

I'm serious

Thats actually some pretty decent skills. Good job on taking the flaming like a champ. That place "The Compound" is fucking crazy, anybody got a good link to a story on the place?

They just shut it down today.
I met Kip there today due their final drift day. Was a great time even with the rain and wet socks.

Source?
I don't believe I've seen that video.

Went to the final event at the Central FL Racing Complex. It was a good four year run, sucks that it's shutting down. My GoPro died an hour into a 7 hour event so footage is very limited.

and the epic burnout party to bid the track farewell

Some footage from an event I hit last month. Just went to test out the new setup

Bit of an update in case anyone here cares lol- The car now has a 6 speed along with a new manifold and retune.

Hi Kip

18psi 10-10-2014 02:21 PM

does this car have no boost control?

I find the torque curve depressing for a 1.8 with a t25, it should be hitting peak torque by 3500

Impuls 10-10-2014 04:23 PM

Yeah, even my car does better than that and it's a piece of shit.

KipCantDrift 10-10-2014 07:31 PM

Lol I've been running an ancient t25 since last year, got it for $50. It finally died on the way home from that event I posted. Just had it rebuilt so we'll see how it performs when I put everything back in.

Looks awesome man! I didn't expect all the hate for drifting though. That's what I'm building my miata for. That way I'll have a spare car if my FC is down like it was for half of this season. In my mind, a tiny rear wheel drive car with the potential to make good power has no other good use. I've tried autocross. That was a snoozefest. Drag racing is for murica cars. Car shows are for old guys. Mine isn't clean enough to want to make a super nice car for crusing. I wouldn't mind building a spec miata for road racing but for the time drifting is an awesome use of the platform. Keep on keeping on!

Ohh, and what knuckles are you running my friend?

You're not talking about a Miata, right?

Miatas make terrible drift cars because they have a low polar moment of inertia. There are plenty of far better choices for that. That's the reason the more experienced drifters don't screw around with them. It's part of the reason they make good road race cars.

I've been drifting for years friend. One thing I've learned along the way is there's a lot to be learned by taking road less traveled. That being said, my Miata isn't intended for a competition car. Just a build for fun. That's what its all about anyway. And OP looks like he is having a ton of fun in his turbo Miata.

1. You're a noob, not a friend.
2. I get it now. You're a unique snowflake, so exploring the "new way" (new, of course, since Miatas JUST hit market and drifting JUST became popular) has allowed you to expand your mind and show them what this little car can do.

Is a Miata fun to drift? Sure. Is it a good drift car? No. Is Kip a talented driver who is having fun? Yes.

Are you teaching us anything new?

No.
