Default De-Noob Intro

Name is Nick, I like cars, beer and home theater stuff. Stumbled onto a good deal thanks to my great friend Ben, and had to jump on it (although a bit unprepared). '06 Sport with lots of goodies, and needing a little work. 2.5 with Cosworth SC, Ohlins, Tomei LSD, ACT 6puck, full exhaust, terrible looking wheels, OEM hard top. Now I am reading, trying to learn what I can about the car, and make many friends that will enlighten me in the ways of Miata.

Welcome. Fab up a rear mount turbo and compound it. Then we will all be your friends.

This is my fault.

But it's ok, Nick is good people.

This is the Cosworth kit that Goodwin has been beating on for nearly a decade, it's at the core, a good piece of kit.

If anyone in the Tampa,FL area is around, I could use some friendly knowledge sharing. Bought the car with supercharger only boosting 4lbs, when it should be around 10. Flyin Miata has dicked me around for 5 weeks on getting a replacement Bypass Valve, but am very apprehensive about tearing things apart.

I'd be more than willing to take a look but my supercharher knowledge is not great and I will be out of town this weekend. I am not apprehensive about taking things apart though

Basically either the BPV fixes things, or the stupidcharger needs to come off and be sent out for a rebuild.

They don't last forever without a rebuild.

Are you a recent transplant to Florida or been here awhile?

Per previous owner, SC should only have about 20k miles, but was purchased used. I would hate to take the sc off, replace the bpv, then need to rebuild it right away, or again in a few thousand miles.

Recent transplant to FL, just moved down here about a year ago from Indy.

I live in Tampa Heights myself. Just for reference. We'll have to eliminate one variable at a time. Start with the cheapest options first.

He's already got a BPV on the way, it's the cheapest option. SC supposedly needs to be removed to replace BPV. Case of "while we're in there...."

Also Nick: If you don't measure the dimensions of that BPV when you get it so you can get a pimpy Forge one later or something instead of dealing with FM again, i'll punch you when i see you in a month.

Holiday, huh? I'm thinking about what I know is in Holiday and I can think of a scrap metal yard, a titty bar, and a Northern Tool location.

Previous owner had a boost leak test done, replaced the pulleys and belt. Bypass valve was next on his list, so I started there buying that. Should hopefully be delivered this week.

Everyone I've talked to has run the stock unit, but I will measure it for you, as I know you really like it when I measure for you.

It sounds a lot better when I tell people I live in Tarpon Springs... Because yes, that is all that is in Holiday. I live about a mile west of the Northern Tool.

If you live a mile west of Northern Tool then you could probably say you are in Anclote.

What type of work do you do?

I am a remote systems specialist/billings manager for a software company.

Bypass Valve has finally arrived from FM/Magnuson. Ordered the SC Oil Replacement kit + Coupler from TDR. Should be delivered tomorrow. So who wants to help make horsepowerz?
