Hello all. Just bought a brown (i know ew) 1990 Miata. Its slow. But i could not have asked for more. I absolutley love it. My dad used to have a 05 sti with a apr wing and he sold it with out the wing. Well it landed in my hands... its a gtc200 and it looks great ( i think) on my car. I got tint and i had a system. Yep stereotype me im a kid, i love to have my car go fast for cheap and also i love to blare my rap music (also country) and make it have a lot of boom. Sadly i cant deliver on the speed thing. I am sloowww. but thats why i am here. I am moving to florida this weekend and driving from irvine CA to palmbay FL. I really hope the car will make it! We ( my dad and I) just did the "loctite fix" cause my keyway was destroyed! So Basically stock with a wing!

What's so bad about the wing? I like it. Alot. Gives the car way less of the gay factor. And yeah wonton sure..

Well unfortunately you are going about a performance build exactly how most here would do it. First that wing is out of place. You could sell it and get important stuff like suspension,a used turbo kit(with a lil of your change added).

If you want fast with a Miata adding a booming sound system and a rollcage as your first mods really arent gonna do it...

There is a reason they tell you build from the ground up... try brakes,suspension,bracing and then learn your car. Then make it fast but I know nothing... Im past 30 y/o

 

Thanks! Well I couldn't really sell the wing cause it has been taken apart and I would not like to be respOnsible for anything that happened. The stereo was out of my previous car I have yet to spend a penny on the car other than the crankshaft fix. These where all things that I had laying around. Or else I would have started with the "important" things. I know I would love to get suspension. But on chickfila pay it's hard to save that much. I will eventually. Don't you think a roll bar would be a first judging by the way saftey is a big priority. Thanks for the advice. Remember I'm open to anything I'm not gonna be like most people my age I know I don't know it all and I love to learn!

 

You don't need a roll bar because you've got that wing in the event of a flip.

You'll find that about this crowd really quickly, but I'd encourage you to stick around.
I can't see the pic of your car, but based on the text in the thread I'm imagining a stock brown Miata with a huge wing, blaring rap (or country) from the windows. Not the typical mt.net set of priorities, to say the least. But.. you're here to learn.

It's thanks to this site that my car is half of what it is. Sit back and soak in some info. Read the FAQ and the threads in "useful saved threads" for starters, and lose the wing, IMO. At least find a spare trunk lid and mount it to that so you can use it at the track once your car is fast. Even a lot of the fast guys don't rock their aero on the street.

 

Its a tough crowd full of ********.
With this forum its pretty cut and dry: you either fit in and absolutely love it and won't even go on any other miata forum (most are insanely gay lol) or you're a retard and pretty much everyone hates you.

I'm def. Sticking around will take your advice next paycheck ad get a spare decklid. You guys are correct. I wil be sure to read that! Also. Top down widows up cause I just got my tint done! I think it's dumb also! I was reading the cheap and free mods also. What do you guys think about the mod where you tape the top corner of your lights to give it a aggressive look? Honestly. Would it just make me more gay. I already get **** for it being "faglicious" that's what my friends call it along with "the ****"

 

Sell that very nice functional wing to some fine gentleman on the forum here who will put it to good use on the track. Use that money and get some sticky tires and new brake pads and scare all your cockgobbling friends with your mad 17 year old driving skillz.

I like the brown and I also like the tint. I say that you put gold or bronze wheels on the car and you will have a miata that black people will love.
