FNG from TN
Hello all, my name is matt, I live in Tennessee, work at Vanderbilt hospital, and am super new to miatas lol.
Only previous motorsport experience is a couple of drift events in one of my 240s, but Auto-X and road courses are something I really want to try
Previous cars have been either hondas
or 240s ( which I really miss, sorry :P )
But after driving a friends 97 with a jackson racing m45, I may be a convert...
here is my car, its a 1995 optioned out (i think?) with 172k miles and the only mods so far are 15x8 +10 rota zero plus wheels, a set of raceland coilovers, and a hardtop.

not the best picture, but you get the idea..
I come to this forum seeking knowledge about all the fun stuff you can do to the 1.8 that comes in my car, and like most everyone else at a crossroads, I can't make up my mind on how I want my miata to "go faster."
I hope this is a decent enough intro; I'm not new to forums at all, but I did read the stickies and watched those two videos (which were not necessarily informative, but quite hilarious)

Great, i like seeing the population of miata owners in close proximity to me grow. Maybe we'll eventually have enough for a meet.
My only advice is to be honest with yourself about the end-game. Deviations cost money. A dual duty car will always be a compromise.
^^ and that's why I have 2!
Hey Matt - as a newb - at least you didn't put drift and miata in the same line together, you'd get a butt pounding by some here! Welcome!
btw, put your location in your profile display

its a dd for sure, but i would love to run it a couple times. no full blown track car with gutted interior and wheels with functionality for me lol. i have a parts/ wish list if you will, but nothing crazy
.i tried beating on it a couple times and its not even close to the ease of just a na ka24de of all things (weird, i know) when it comes to predictability. maybe i'm just not used to how they handle fully.
Miatas aren't good drift cars out of the box. In an FC FD or S13/14 I can hang out giant gorgeous sideways arcs the whole day. Miatas have way to short of a wheel base to actually get the angle you want. Anywho, it is good to see another Tennessean on here. Welcome.
