Default FNG from Upstate NY.

Just wanted to say Hello before I proceed to overload this Forum with blithe cynicism and ardent dissent.

My name is Aram, I'm 30, and live just outside of Albany NY. I went to school for Mechanical Engineering and work at GE Energy.

I've been toying with the idea of grabbing a Miata and ever-so-gently boosting the ******* nuts off of it. Perhaps I can find one that's already been boosted, and I can make light of someone else's poor financial decision making skills and misfortune.

I've always been a Nissan guy, owning and building 7 SR20DE and DET powered cars over the past 12 years. (3) NX2000, (1) B14 SE-R, (2) B13 SE-R, and (1) 240sx. I also owned an NA '86 RX7, a Turbo II '87 RX7, and a 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege w/ built block and PAR transmission. I currently drive a 2002 WRX Wagon, which I've managed to keep mostly stock.

I look forward to everyone assuming that I'm a total incompetent because I'm a newb on this Forum, and asking a myriad of questions about wheel offsets and turbo kits that may or may not be able to be answered by searching past threads.

Cheers.

Howdy, totally incompetent new guy! Welcome to the place. Before asking a myriad of questions about wheel offsets and turbo kits, you may find that your questions are able to be answered by searching past threads.

lol

Welcome. I'm glad you already know what we are up against daily.

Nothing like signing up just before the snow hits. Do you drive your Miata in the winter?

Mine goes off the road in 5 days.

Thank you.

I simply cannot wait to get started on building a formidable, top quality track car.
Raceland, XXR, OBX, and an AliBaba.com sourced turbo kit. Only the best for my baby...

See ya in the "Ohmagawd, muh Meeata just 8 muh cumpressher weel" Thread !

I don't have one yet. I'm still shopping around. There's not a very good selection in my area, so it's looking like travel will be required.

I have a storage unit. Over the winter I plan on getting serious and installing a barefoot gas pedal and SOSHINOYA window decal, so yeah, I guess you could say I'm pretty serious.

Welcome to the forum! Now you can help answer all the noob questions about the differences between the various stock SR20 turbos You should also follow me around, I have terrible financial decision making skills and I am constantly beset by misfortune.

Thanks, and I'd love to help !

I will happily direct them to an SR20 Wikipedia page where they can feel free to choose their own destiny / adventure, by method of editing the already existing and marginally accurate information to fit their blissfully ignorant preconceived notions of what should be.

Cool build, BTW. I like seeing people do something different, and that Rotrex centrifugal unit certainly is. I have one question though: How can you live without whine or hiss ? It must be slow without noise.

Trust me, it makes wooshing noises

It's actually off the car at the moment. The only reason I was even attempting to be different was the promised CARB certification that was supposed to come with the unit... that never materialized. There are literally NO California legal boost options for the 2000-2005 Miata, unless you want the one that involves Wilford Brimley, a yo-yo, 2 extra fuel injectors, no intercooler, 200°+ IATs and an MP62.

20/20 hindsight being what it is, I would have rather saved a small fortune and done a DIY weld el maifold and a GT2560R.

Yeah, seriously. We've got a bunch of EE's and ME's on this forum, some military, more computer geeks than ComicCon, some BA's, a few tradesmen, and so on. A reasonably high percentage of us do trackdays and a few of those are winning competitive racers.

And then there are the noobs who are often highschool/college age kids who saw a youtube video once that convinced them that they could be a driftor if only they could find a rear wheel drive car to zip tie a terbo to. They ask "wat ebay terbo kit shud i buy?" or "wat rimz are teh widest I can fit?" They always say "u guyz r dicks" when we tell them to read the effing stickies.

Anyway, welcome!

California knows how to party.

I bet I could rig up a CARB legal kit for you, no problem. Migrant Worker manifold, No Smoking exhaust system, Taxation turbo, and very Liberal engine management. Done.

On my way to pick up a guy at the train station, who may or may not buy my WRX. Miata is in the near future.
