Hello to all fellow and former Noobs, my name is Cameron and I will be 24 in November. I reside in Memphis, Tennessee USA. Memphis is commonly overlooked when considering hallmark cities of American culture, although it is the home of Elvis and the largest Bass Pro shop in the world. As you may have already guessed, I arrive here in the possession of one of the greatest affordable sports car ever manufactured. Currently I have a 94'NA Base in Classic Red and a 2001 NB2 LS in Crystal White. The NB came second and could be considered a beater by most standards. I bought it to feel something while the NA has been under the knife.
Similar to many of you, I purchased my first Miata simply to indulge in my wildest dreams of being a shi**y mechanic! The powers that lie deep within the Miata's innocent pop up headlights have taken hold of me, and now I am on a quest for more! I have been a long time lurker of almost every online resource for Miata knowledge available to the general public, but now I have my own questions to ask.
I am doing a full rebuild of the 94' NA. Although I have examined hundreds, if not thousands of forum threads, advice, build walkthroughs, FM Facebook lives, etc., I am still in desperate need of some personal guidance from all levels of experienced and knowledgeable Miata owners.

NA the day i got her November 2023 Now September 2024 w/ big plans Acquired May 2024 Taken August 2024 - Cleaned up the headlights, replaced brake lines, clutch hydraulics, all fluids except diff, PS, and Coolant. Also rebuilt shifter and replaced plugs/wires. Still needs some TLC on the interior, soft top glass fell out and AC currently out of order :(
Well it’s my first engine build and I just don’t have the experience to know what the best options for some things would be in my case.
My plans are that it will be street driven mostly and could see some track days. Wanting to do a kraken turbo kit because I like the EFR 6258 and their options. Honestly my final goals for whp would be like 325 with some headroom, I don’t want to be limited by internals. I would probably aim more modestly at first until I have a better solution for the transmission.
one thing I am interested in hearing more about is people’s personal experience with retaining oil squirters vs. not.
If I get flyin miata’s ceramic top weiscos, I would probably get rid of the oil squirters, but I was wondering how the supertec 4032 pistons do without oil squirters. I would prefer to not run them if it means my cooling system would be more efficient, I just don’t want to put premature wear on the internals if they benefit from the extra lubrication and any cooling it may provide. One of my main goals is for the end product to be reliable and last. I want to run a 9.5:1 or 9:1 ratio. I guess lower CR would be safer for my engine but I just don't know how much 8.6:1 vs 9:1/9.5:1 would effect the chance of detonation.
