Default Hey everyone another n00b here

Greetings, I'm Craig I own a 2001 bought with 106,000 and am at ~130,000 now. I've done the basics in suspension with tien street advanced, avid 15x8 with 195/45 Toyo tires, cold air, and full apexi exhaust. Hopefully soon to be F/I, but not sure which way to go. I've owned 4 Miatas 90, 93, 01, as well as a 07. I'm 19 from Indianapolis and in school for computer aided design.

See if you can quickly get into the MK Turbo group buy before it closes. Search for it on this forum.

And welcome!

Good to have another Hoosier on the board.
Sometimes Concealer404 and I need a new snuggle buddy.

I've used this site for research for a long time before joining. I just didn't find as much info on superchargers compared to turbo's. Any suggested supercharger threads i should read?

Which one? Rotrex is probably the most liked around here.
Most other options are either not worth the effort or the $ to performance ratio is low.

Thank you. Are you a part of indy mazda club or circle city mazda crew?

Nope, no clubs. Just this homo.
I come down periodically to drink beer, break stuff, and deliver cats.

What are your actual goals power wise?
What are you planning to do with your car?
Post some pictures so we can see what you're working with.
Car pictures are fine too.

My original goals were around 220 at roughly 10 psi on a mostly home brew kit. However, after further research I want to go for an entire rebuild and around 350 when its all said and done. Also just posted somewhat of a timeline of my car.

With those goals, you should probably stop reading about thooperchargers.

That's what I was guessing but didn't have enough info yet to back it up. Thanks gents. One for not ripping me apart ( I've seen a lot of that on these forums). Also are there any meet ups in Indy that are only Miatas? Even the mazda clubs are barren I the miata world.

I mean, you CAN do 350 with a supercharger, been done. But you won't get much support here.

I think there's an Indy Miata club. I don't think any of us are a part of it. Honestly this is a pretty depressing area of the country to own a Miata in. I hate driving mine around here.

I'm somewhat affiliated with them but they are ******** for the majority. I feel you though, I only have two other friends with miatas and they don't get out much.

Someone in a nice-looking-but-halfway-stancey-looking green NB stopped me about a month ago and said i need to join Indy Miatas.

I looked, but i really had no idea what he was talking about. I'm not paying yearly dues to drive straight roads with a bunch of stock cars 1-2x a year for the club i found. Didn't really see anything else.

Is there something else i'm missing?

Yeah, 220 would take a bit of work with a roots supercharger and would create a lot more heat in the charge. You can easily get there with a cheap Chinese turbo with a minimal investment. A Rotrex could get there easily but costs a bit more.

350 would require a big investment in supporting mods and will be easier for a turbo. The crankshaft nose on the Miata is not known for durability without driving 40hp worth of supercharger effort through it. It takes a lot of strength to turn one against backpressure.

I've studied pretty hard on what it takes for a turbo build of roughly 350. I just want to make sure I have all of the suspension and odds and ends dealt with before my quest for power. As far as the miata page goes it's just not worth it imo and it's mostly just people selling parts and asking stupid questions. However, as i said circle city mazda crew is a great group of people. Not many miatas but they don't charge anything and if you guys are interested we are having a cruise to brown county state park to hit some twisties on Oct. 17.

It is sadly and the only reason I'm on it, but as you guys said Indiana is a shitty place to love miatas.

Gotcha, well... i'd be interested in going down there maybe. Depends on wife's work schedule. She works full time and does night school so if she has Saturday off, that's the only day i'll really see her that week. Normally i'd take her with me to something like this but she's in physical therapy from an accident about 6 weeks ago and is still a bit sore for a day of riding in my Miata in particular.
