Hillclimber from the UK
Hi,
Despite having owned NA roadsters for the last decade I've only just felt the need to seek out the help of the MT brain trust! For the last few years I've been fallinf into the motorsport hole, hillclimbing my NA at venues around the UK. I'd owned this NA6 for about 8 years and gradually modified it to be a dedicated competition car with a mildly modified motor running Jenvey ITBs on MSPNP making a modest 115hp on a dynpack hub dyno.
Here's a snap of "MEP" in action at Shelsley Walsh hillclimb...
Unfortunalty MEP had got the dreaded tin worm pretty bad in her 280,000km life and I decided to cut my losses with and re-shell. I found a nice fairly recent import roadster with a sound body but a tragic slush box for the right money and set about the swap this winter.
To make things a bit more difficult for myself I also had gone about building a more serious motor for MEP before her retirement, so that was also part of the "Oreo" build (black outside with a cream (tan) interior, just like those cookies!)... VVT short block, 11:1 pistons, forged rods, big valve '99 head, maruha cams, solid lifters, fancy valve springs, RB manifold etc, and those Jenvey ITBs and MSPNP from the old motor. Also converted to toyota COPs while I was at it...
And this brings me to registering on miataturbo.net... guess what? I made the booboo of changing everything at once and wondering why I can't get her to start! Should have known better but...
Look forward to contributing by boring you all with tails of hillclimbing (assuming I get the bloody thing running!) and pray for mercy when I start asking possibly stupid questions about tunerstudio!

Appreciate the compliment, a lot of time and effort has gone into Oreo! Hopefully not long till I’m back competing!!
The atmosphere is pretty special there. One of the attractions of hillclimbs is the diversity of venue and the friendly paddocks.
Have fun at goodwood, need to go to the revival again soon, what an experience that is!
