Default Howdy

Hello all. My name's Alan, I'm from Columbia, MO, and I'm planning on boosting my Miata sometime soon. I've got a '92 Red B package (like probably about a third of the people on here ). It's got 60k on the clock now, bought it with 31k on the clock in 2005. It's totally stock at the moment, but within the next few weeks it's getting the '94+ brake upgrade, AGX's, FCM linear bumpstops, Racing Beat Springs, and a Torsen (I have everything except new pads and rotors). Might also put toghether a Home-Depot CAI (if I decide it's going to be quite a while before I turbo it).

I've got most of the parts for the ghetto-fabulous turbo setup (picked up here and there), and I really only lack an upgraded clutch and the exhaust from the turbo back (which I'll probably make, since I'm a cheapass).

I've been a gearhead since I was a little kid. Past cool rides have included a '73 Plymouth Duster, an '84 Scirocco 8v, a '91 Dodge Spirit R/T, and some others not worth mentioning. My nasty-weather car is a '93 Grand Cherokee.

Looking forward to becoming a member of the community. Any locals on the board who want an extra set of hands for a project, let me know. I need some gearhead friends around here, most of mine have moved away.

Alan

from personal experience i didn't care for the racing beat springs... I hit the bump stops far too often. You may want to look into some alternative options.

welcome to the forum.

Awesome, great introduction... thanks for all the good info.
You should go to PlanetMiata.com right now... sale on pads/rotors.
Definitely take a look at Megasquirt, the best mod you'll ever make.

I've heard that the RB Springs aren't the hot ticket, but I got them very cheap. I'm still on the fence about whether I'm going to use them or stick with the stockers.

samnavy-Thanks for the headsup about the sale at Planetmiata. I knew they were around, but their prices kind of put me off. As for MS, it's on the list eventually. Right now, I'm just going with the AFPR and Bipes (cause that's what I've got).

What? $79 per set for HP+ pads and new rotors put you off?

Try this... at Goodwin, just the pads are $79set, and the rotors are $80set.

I went back to the stock springs and haven't regretted it once. You will get a fair price for them on ebay. The guy who bought mine paid more (including shipping) that he would have if he bought them new.
