Default Just another n00b, this one's from Alabama!

Hey guys. New here, and although I am a lifelong car enthusiast, I'm still fairly new to Miatas. Got my 1999 NB about a year ago to have as an autocross/track day/just for fun car. So far, I picked up a hard top for it, added some used TRMotorsport wheels with BFG Rivals, put in a new eBay radiator and hoses, and lowered the car by cutting a coil (I know, I know, that's bush league, but it's only temporary until I decde what suspension I want to go with...probably some Bilsteins with eBay coil overs and QA1 springs, just still researching ATM).

And although I am new to Miataturbo, I am very active on some Mustang forums, and been lurking on a few other Miata forums as well, so I know how to use the search button

Good to be here and looking forward to learning more about these cars.

If you cut the coils, dont drive the car... you will probably die. Thats never a good idea, especially since extensive track research shows that lower is not always better. lol
Oh! and we like pics... lots of pics... so pics or it didnt happen. lol

Welcome welcome, pics or GTFO, and hopefully you find some decent suspension soon!

I don't think it's dangerous, it just means you ride on the bumpstops 99% of the time instead of 95% of the time.

But hey if you'd rather be low and really uncomfortable vs high and mildly uncomfortable, who am I to judge?

Haha! Thanks for the welcomes guys! Great responses. I figured when I mentioned that I cut the coils, I'd get some good replies.

I don't have many good pics but here is one, before I put on the TRMotorsports wheels. I also traded the green hardtop for a red one that matches the car.

This is the day I brought it home. Nothing special, jut another red NB. At least it has the nicer 16" twisted star wheels from an 01 model.

And I did replace this:

With a more functional, track appropriate this:

Colorblind win! That hard top totally looks black to me, I probably wouldn't even notice.
