Well I registered here a while back but didn't really post (at all). But, after being exposed to Pen2 and the newly registered MrZhang.. lets just say I'm starting to appreciate Miatas more and more. Basically I'm here for the same reasons MrZhang is. Would just like to learn more about them and associate with what seems like an awesome community here. Welcome. I don't get why somebody would want a 2wd 3/4 ton truck, but that's just me and my opinion. The guy who tuned my truck built this:

My truck is weak sauce compared to yours though.
'09 GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab, 2.5" leveling kit on 33x12.5" tires.
AFM turned off, tuned fuel / tuned trans shift settings / speedo calibration.
Truck rips, but it's my daily/ everything hauler, so I don't really care to beat on it. For a 5,700lb truck though...it moves.
It was tuned with HP tuners.

Sounds like a really cool truck you got there, people don't usually believe it until they see it but GM trucks can definitely move if you do the right stuff to them. Do you have a picture you could toss up here of yours? You got my Chevy sense tingling >.> Oh and greetings from PA also!

I can't really remember what made me get a 2wd 3/4 ton but I think it had something to do with the accidental tire spinning when I pulled it off the used car lot to test drive it lol. I've always wanted an old muscle car but that's a bit out of the question at this point in my life, and I need a truck for hauling wood, my quad around occasionally, and whatever else I may need it for, so a 2wd silverado with some power to spare seemed to fit the bill for me. Kind of a happy medium in my opinion. I quickly found that it had A LOT of power, which puzzled me until I had my dad run a tag we found on the motor recently and came to find out that it had a built turnkey dropped into it by the previous owner. Over time I guess it just became a bit of an obsession with making something bulky and totally unsuspecting into a sleeper that can hold it's own against these new generation muscle cars and whatnot.

2wd with a locker will go 99% of the places you ever need to go in a truck.

 

^99% of those places must not exist in PA. Not tryin to start anything, Just sayin.

 

Have you driven a 2wd truck with a locker and some weight in the bed? They will bomb through a lot of stuff. Compared to a 4wd with no locker?

 

I'm glad you live in Oregon, and not, say...Texas. Cause I'm thinking your winter's might compare. Driving down the street through 1" of snow in a 2WD with 400lbs of weight and a locker, is not equal to driving through 8" of snow in 4high range.

 

I do love driving through snow in my 4wd truck when I go to the mountains

99% was an exaggeration, but a locker in a 2wd truck is a fun time offroad.
