So, as luck would have it, you already had a 1.8 in the car, unless somebody swapped it for a 1.6 (?). So the 1st version 1.8 that was noted in the post above will be a direct swap, even an emaculate swap!

Outside of 'merica and Australia the Roadster/Miata/MX5 was available with a B6 all the way up to the release of the NC.

So depending on where OP lives, it may be a factory 1.6, despite being a 97.

ah, my bad.

Didnt see a "location" show up below his username on the post.
And didnt realise there was a separate field for nationality in the full user profile (which I didnt open)

In that case, OP looks like another kid who needs to do 5mins of googling.

So your question is basically, can I swap in exactly the same 1.8L motor that I have and will it work? And you seriously dont have the answer?

We're all pretty confident that you have a 1.8 already in your car, so swapping in any other NA 1.8 is easy...Unless the PO went and installed a 1.6 for whatever reason...Or you're car isn't a US spec car... Care to take a picture of your engine bay (in particular the rear of the head)?

Lets use logic!

The 1.8 miata engine was available from the factory in the NA body. So to answer the OP's question will "it would work with my shell" or "if it’s compatible with my na shell" then

Yes, yes it is.

Looks like Tyler is a young dude, who posts a few things on the net. All of which looks like it comes from the US. Now we are further confused with the engine you think you have. perhaps it was shipped here by a fmily member from another country?

The internet is a interesting tool.

a 7.0L is the only motor that'll fit in the 97. It's a unique chassis.
