Hey first off if A mod can change my sn to mini_fd that would be great as I made this account a while ago under blackbandit.

Anyways I have a 99 nb with a lot of aesthetics and a nice drivetrain. Long story short I want to do a mild rebuild for a turbo I want to install in the near future.

I would say upgraded head studs, rod bolts, piston rings, rods bearings, new gaskets. Not sure if this is the norm for what people do when they go mild to medium on a turbo. Basically this would be upgrading the most common failure points for 225hp.

These are the mods I have currently

Engine:
Racing Beat Intake
14* advanced timing wheel
Koyo 53 mm aluminum radiator
Mishimoto silicone hoses
Arc radiator cap
Mishimoto slim fans and shroud

Transmission
Spec 3+ 6 puck sprung clutch
8.9 lb fidanza lightweight flywheel
Mazdaspeed miata rear end 4.1 led tors en axles and shift

Suspension
Autoexe 3 pt. Strut bar
Tein flex
Jackson racing sway bars
V8 roadster frame rails
Racing Beat polyurethane end links
Mazdaspeed competition motor mounts
Energy bushing polyurethane differential mounts

Brakes
Ebb green stuff

Exhaust
Rsr ex mag I I-
01+ Oem HEADER

Exterior
2004 Mazda speed miata face lift
garage vary front lip
Autokonexion v.1 duck bill tail
01+tail lights
Garage star hard top spoiler
Oem hardtop
Demon camber precedo 15×7.5 -5
Rays black anodized lug nuts
Smoked ebay side markers
Led side marker and license plate lights
Garage vary eyelids
Debadged
fresh paint 08\13
S2k radio receiver and antenna-
Rob ryoku red anodized tow hooks
Dz101 Dunlop tires 195 50 15

Interior
Revlimiter's war birds custom gages
Rs meter gauge
Eunos swarkoski blue horn badge
330 mm deep corn red stitch Nardi wheel
daikei hub
!njoy sun visor deletes
Carbine bronze shifter
10th anniversary shifter surround
pioneer stereo
Polk 6 in. Speakers
65 watt mini amp
aem digital water temp gauge
Ebay gauge surround
01 miata seats "surfboards"
01 door panels
01 black carpet
01 ac face amber lighting
Mazdaspeed door sills

I'm excited on the new venture..

Welcome to the site. I'd suggest you read a few threads about what people are doing for building, because your parts list for your engine rebuild is not what most people are doing. You've left out the most failure-prone part: the rods themselves.

Also, if your current engine is healthy and it's a street car, you don't need to do anything to the engine itself for 225hp.

Um YESSSSSS that's a gorgeous car. Wow. MOAR PICS!

Your right and thank you for the greet. And I forgot to add rods. I'm performing the thread on my note 3.
Now some horrendous story of why I feel the need to do a mild rebuild is because I blew the motor the first day I bought The car 4 years ago because of the previous owner had green top injectors and blocked the maf with electrical tape to have it run decent. I Found this out after I brought the vehicle home. Now previous owner installed a used bottom end after it was blown but didn't replace a single gasket. I replaced everything back to Oem myself and performed all the necessary maintenance for reliability including flow test on my injectors. Now I did a compression test 2 years ago for the hell of it and i saw 155 numbers across the board and I didn't believe them when I was told what they were so I'm going to do another testing to see where we are at.

Hey Gerald it's Matt (10AE turbo guy with the tow strap). I'm looking forward to seeing your turbo build, let me know if you ever have any questions. Like turbofan said you don't have to touch the engine for only 225whp. Its only when you want to go above 14psi or so that the rods become an issue and are at risk for bending.

I mean, it's a little too low and the wheels are a little too big but I do think it looks really really good.

And... shiny. wow shiny.

I wouldn't mess with a stock engine for 225hp. Plenty of stock engines run around 225hp.

I do however suggest megasquirt and learning to tune. That will be the life saver for your engine when you boost it.

I am going to purchase a megasquirt. As for messing with the block in the post above I described the situation why I show concern performing a light rebuild. The bottom was previously replaced with no new head gasket and i am unaware of the quality of the bottom end and of the work performed. I do burn some oil but I do not leak a single drop. All seals have been replaced around the entire engine.

Welcome-

I read your "Bling List" and was pretty much like "Uh-oh, we've got another ChubChoadster refugee here", but damn son, that's a nice looking car!

Love the wheels- Are they terribly heavy?

Yeah it was one of the first sites I joined other then themazdaforum.com and miata.net. This car really taught me everything and i practice on her while learning how to replace and fix things. And I plan on continuing that trend within my limits.

As for the wheels, they were the first set of wheels I fell in love with almost 4 years ago. Specifically on "urbans" car. Not sure if anyone can relate to that sn. Well they are 15 or 16 lbs I forget. Not as light as I would like them to be but they were the ones I truly wanted. I used to wear the 04 msm wheels and they weighed 2 or 3 lbs heavier.

I believe we met at the gap last year. My gf has a 10ae that's getting sprayed this week and she was at the gap with me. So we talked to almost every 10ae owner up there and introduced ourselves

Oh, ok. Badass. Your car looks awesome. When her car is done getting sprayed, you should either get her on here, or just post some pics of her car as well! We like pics.... lol

Not a fan of the eyelids (even though my last car rocked them too lol, but for a reason)
Not a fan of the hardtop "visor" whatever its called.

Otherwise GREAT looking nb, really dig it. I was a little iffy about the specs on those wheels, but they sure do look great. Love the gauge cluster too, is that a revlimiter one or something?
