I don't think oil coolers work when inverted. But your car is sharp looking.

i dont see why it wouldnt work. i mean for one my oil temps stay really stable, but also, shoudlnt the oil pump maintain pressure and circulate the oil? dont know how else an oil cooler would work...haha

Have you had the car on the track? There's not much you can do on the street to fluctuate oil temps enough times consistenly to build data. Guys run 300whp on the street with no oil cooling equipment and never have temps go up either. Half a lap on the track and the engine is toast.

I love the stance, needs less grenade.

I took the time to make a couple of diagrams for you regarding the oil cooler. When inverted, the air remains suspended within the top of the oil cooler and only a portion of the cooler will actually be functioning as desired.

Whether your oil is getting overheated or not has nothing to do with whether your oil cooler is functioning as designed. You might simply already have adequate oil cooling present without the additional cooler. (Damn, Sam beat me to it)

Note also that when positioned correctly, the oil will linger in the cooler passages longer and have more surface area exposed to cooling air. You might end up cooling the oil more than desired unless you are tracking the car with a big turbo. The factory oil cooler mounted on the oil filter adapter is excellent.

Where is Pure tuning located? I'm in Ohio and I've seen their name before but aren't familiar with them.

I agree with sixshooter...in our legends cars we have two, one is a small one mounted as sixshooter said with the fittings up top and the larger one, one that is square, is mounted 90* to how you guys have them, with the fittings on the side...then we run the inlet to the bottom fitting and it has to be pushed up through the cooler from the oil pump. instead of the other way where the oil would just enter the cooler and gravity would do the rest having it just fall down the cooler

ZOMG!!! two people on the internet have told me i need to change something, i best get to it and pass out some complimentary blow jobs as a thanks for saving my engine!

sorry guys, but track data doesnt lie. it works fine. before and after logs indicate a drop in oil temp after the install. I mean i suppose air could get in there, but since its below the pickup point and is a pressurized system im not too worried about air getting "trapped"

Just because you don't understand that there is a problem, doesn't mean that there isn't one.

Track data doesn't lie? Yes using 1/3 of an oil cooler will cool your oil more than not using one. Just imagine how much better it will work when you use the whole cooler?

Two strangers with knowledge and experience try to offer to help you and you insult them?
I have a great distaste for ignorant arrogance. We were just trying to help you.

This is the internet pal. I have no idea of your experience level or knowledge, so am i supposed to just trust you at your "cool" signature quote, fancy avatar pic, and post count? for all i know youre a 16 year old kid that doesnt even own a car. so im sorry if im going to trust MY experience and the people i know in person about whats best for MY car.

I do honestly thank you for your input and lovely MSPaint drawings, and i may decide to test your theory some day when i have time. When I do ill be sure to post up results and data. If you happen to be right then ill apologize and well all live happily ever after in teh interwebs.

Who the **** cares if the poster is 16...he backed up the argument with sound logic and TOOK THE ******* time to draw you a diagram.

btw...clean *** car, but could use less stickers. Guess we don't all have the same tastes. Most of us here do have a ******* clue how to mount an oil cooler though.

What I meant to say is:

Welcome to the forum.

Nice intro thread...well page 1 at least....and great looking car.

If you read around a bit, you will see most of us have pretty detailed threads of our builds, as well as plenty of racing experience. I don't have the opportunity to race, but I mention this to point out that we are generally VERY intolerant of mis-information on this site because that's what pisses us off(and obviously yourself as well) about most other sites.

That being said...gettin' lippy with those that are trying to HELP also makes our site suck. Now, for someone else reading this thread, YOU are providing the misinformation just by being a hardheaded dimwit. Again, we are intolerant on misinformation.

So in short:

GTFO*

* or change your stinkin' attitude

Big loss.

Really, wtf is your deal. You just flipped out when someone said there was something that could be better on your car.

That's the whole reason we mod and tune....to make things BETTER...screw good enough.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend everything I've done to my car couldn't possibly be improved. I'm an engineer (as are 25% of the regular posters here) and I still learn something daily.

Keep learning = go faster

Think you know it all and **** everyone else = might as well drive a honduh

I'm not saying I know everything. I don't (yes hop on the bandwagon everyone). I just feel like my point is not getting across. I know nothing of anyones credibility. I've been a member here for what, a month? Would you take a total stra gers advice about something? I know I don't. I've already said I'm willi g to test this theory, and told you it will not make a change. I don't need your elitist attitude about what I should change. If I knew you I might take it to heart. But I don't so I'm going to question your posts. And I am an *******, I know this.

Your time here will be short. Just because you declare yourself an ******* doesn't mean anyone will give you any slack. YOU have zero credibility.

As to the oil cooler, the smart man would go out and try to verify the install and the theory behind it. The dumbass would get in an internet pissing match.

Bye bye.
