Noob saying Hello
Hey Guys,
Figured I'd say hello. I know very little about Miatas and Mazdas, but I'm slowly learning. I just finished building a BMW e30. I love the car, love the e30 community, and now I'm gearing up for a Miata build - specifically an NB.
I like the idea of a turbo Miata. The V8 scene, although great and amazing, doesn't seem feasible to me for some reason. Probably because I have yet to see a clean 302 swap and the LS swap is too costly for me. However, I would like to build a stroker turbo...assuming I can mix and match blocks and heads like I did with my BMW motor - something I'm trying to read up on.
Thanks for reading. See you around.
Pete

Welcome, sir. Nice job with searching/reading around and not just asking noob questions. Have you already bought a Miata or still shopping? You should update your profile with your city and state so local guys can help more effectively.
good luck!

Welcome. Read, laugh, learn, enjoy! If you're coming from the e30 forum and like it, you will enjoy this place as well. It's a little different and there is still a little to be known about the miata but the 90% of it that is known is already here.
I'm going to throw you a bone dawg. https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...k-links-56507/

I wouldn't bother with a stroker unless you want 600whp or more. Hell Soviet made 400whp on the stock head and IM. I'd post the link but I'm on my phone an I'm lazy. You should read a bunch of threads in the build threads section anyway.
However, if you ask nicely I'm sure hustler will stroker your engine

Hey Guys! Thanks for all the info and the greetings. That's great if the 1.8 can handle boost for some good power. I'm definitely not looking for 600whp, my goal is reasonable I feel ~250whp. Ideally I want fun reliability. I haven't bought the car yet, but I have some widebody fenders for an NB, hence the NB direction.
I'll have to look into this Hustler comment. My BMW motor isn't even really stroked, it's just the 3.0 block bolted to a different head. It was an old school move before off the shelf tunes became affordable. I thought perhaps a 2.3 bottom end might be a similar swap.
Updating my profile now. I tossed up some pictures of my car, this is the outcome of a two year project.

Sharp looking car! I bet it's a fun one.
I don't know if you're really more after the project or the end result, but the car in my sig pic is for sale. Built motor with big turbo and about 250-260 whp. My FS thread is in the classifieds.
