Default Spectre chiming in

Hey guys. I bought a '91 Miata BRG in September 2012. I've been mostly working on getting the car(needs a new top) and the engine up to snuff before I start modifying it. Meanwhile, I am enjoying learning the car in stock form.

I was originally going to go with the FM1 turbo, but after reading some through this site I may go with something else like a Shanghai BEGI or something. In any event I have plenty of time to decide. First thing I will be doing after I am done getting the car caught up on its maintenance is the FM clutch happy meal.

I also have a 2004 Elantra for a daily driver. I've been driving it since 2008.

Glad to be aboard!

Don't do too much work to get a 1.6 engine up to snuff. Just throw it in the garbage and get a 1.8.

Welcome. I think you are wise to modify a car that is not a DD.

Sell your 91 and get a 94+ with a 1.8 and Torsen.

I understand that the 1.8 has a lot of advantages over the 1.6L but I'm not looking for more than about 150 rwhp. The 1.6 is running great, I just have to fix an oil leak. An engine swap is simply not on the table for me.

I always liked the BRG edition, only 4,000 of them were made. I just couldn't say no when I saw it.

Getting a smurf blue or BRG car is the only reason(s) to go 90-93. Any pics?

Thanks. You were responsible for making me rethink my plan to get the FM 1 turbo.

Trying to decide how to proceed here. - MX-5 Miata Forum
