Hey guys,
I've been fooling around with imports for the last 10 years or so, and I've dabbled a bit with turbos but have never built a turbo setup myself. I bought a wrecked '02 SE a couple months ago as a turbo project, which is what led me here! My ultimate goal for the project is a super drivable 250whp street machine, mostly stock in appearance, running on e85.
A shortlist of my past projects:
'85 and '86 MR2s, including a built high compression engine and NOS
'01 and '04 Jetta TDIs running on veg oil with some tuning
'87 Suzuki forsa ex track car sleeper, 3 cylinder engine bored out to 1L, 22psi turbo on race gas - 200whp, fully welded cage, 600kg total weight (wet)... not terribly reliable
'06 Miata, bought new and kept basically stock
Plus a few others here and there
Current DD is a Chevy Volt

Plus if y'all do meetups in the bay area, I'm in.

Edit: In case you want to know what I'm talking about, find my build thread here: https://www.miataturbo.net/build-thr...tas-***-77788/
Be warned it's a bit long.
ALSO... I have a titanium-colored passenger rear quarter panel sitting in my garage that I'd LOVE to sell.

Totally. m.net had a different reaction, but spending $2500+elbo grease and $5k in parts > spending $7500 on a good condition '02. Plus it's fun!
Sweet. I think I'm good to go though, I portapowered everything more or less back into place, and there is only one more big dent to pull. Add some more bondo and I should be fine.

Not remotely. Car probably has an ACV around $7k. That's easily $5k in damage at some hoity toity body shop. Toast.
hahaha it's what happens when a car blue books for 5 grand yet totals over 10 grand when you add up the parts using dealership prices
fun fact: take an 01 SE with the woodgrain nardi interior, remove the steering wheel, shift ****, and seats, and the car is totalled
I'm completely serious
