Default Turbo Car Owner From Chicago, NOOB to forum.

Hey guys, I'm from Chicago and have a 2002 miata with full suspension, brakes, and a turbo. The car is currently on a voodoo kit but I'm already on order for a new ecu so dont worry. I'm a quick learner so I cant wait to start tuning and learning. I've already done tons of reading. Maybe you guys saw me at MATG or FM summer camp this year. And a fun fact- for my ECU I'm actually an early adopter of Flyin Miatas new ECU the FM221 I got it for the early adopter price of $999 so I'm really excited. Its actually just the ME221 ecu some of you may have heard of before from the UK but now FM is the US distributor and I love there support on everything else but wasn't a fan of hydra. I was about to buy a MS and then I heard about this at summer camp and am probably the first to put in an order!

Heres a pic!

Whatsup and sorry haha no, FM vmaxx coilovers, racing beat sway bar end links, FM sway bar front, still testing with their bar in the rear or keeping the stock one.

The ME221 is a crappy MS2 copy.

It's only a copy if it worked really well... The developers of the ME221 struggled with the most basic concepts of the MS2.

Well, that fact wasn't fun.

Glad to have another excited turbo owner running around here though.

Okay, Thanks for the info I've heard that said before when I searched but never any elaboration on how. I still have a while until I'm billed and it ships so maybe my decision will be changed. But it cant just be a direct copy of ms2 because ms2 doesn't have onboard vvt control (if im not mistaken) and this does. What parts of ms2 does this actually copy?

There isn't much info on it out there because it is rather new. My comments come from people who have used them and had lots of problems. Not exactly free to publicize what they told me, but none of it was overly good.

Saying all that, I might just on the cheaper price just to get one and try it out to compare to my MS3X.

I'm in Gilberts (near Elgin). I have a MSpnpPro (for 2001-2004) if you want to check it out.

Another Chicagoan! Welcome.

This forum is pretty heavily MS equipped (myself included), but don't feel bad. I'm sure FM wouldn't be selling a product they weren't confident in. Besides, if it really truly sucks you can write yourself an epic thread about how terrible it was.

Welcome, BBro! I was at the FM summer camp as well - sorry we didn't meet. I've been pestering them for details on the FM221 as a complete turbo kit...did they give you a shipping window for the 221?

Thanks guys for the thoughts. Bill told me it would be about 2 weeks till it ships at summercamp but obviously that was wrong since It still hasnt shipped but I assume it will ship soon. I'm not too worried since I am away from my car at college anyways.
