Default Turbo n00b from SoDak

Had an account on here for a little bit but never made a post yet. I'm from South Dakota and currently have two '99 Miatas. My black one is a stock beater daily driver cobbled together from a couple parts cars I used to have. The green one is my first Miata I've had since 2020. That one has had a turbo on it since July this year. New to the turbo space, but definitely familiar with the car at this point. Huge thanks to all the people here who helped make my turbo setup a reality with all the posts showing how to get the car setup. The turbo car is currently on a garrett gt2554, begi manifold, FM downpipe, ms2pnp, and a garbage exhaust cobbled together. I tuned it myself and it made 169whp on the dyno during a charity dyno event. Glad to be here and be apart of the forum that has helped me so much!

Welcome! Also a turbo newb here. Did you luck in to two 99's or was that intentional?

My first one just happened to be a '99. The second one was about half luck half intentional. Found that one as a bare shell for $700 and sold stuff I didn't need from it like the seats and wheels and got $600 back. I couldn't pass up one being so cheap. 🙂

I love the Emerald Green Mica colour on MX5's.

If I had a '99 I think I'd just upgrade the seats and headlights to NB2 versions, add a twin-hoop rollbar (NOT a style-bar; twin-hoop roll bars look more vintage IMO since many of the early topless race cars just had a single hoop for the driver), add bronze rims, upgrade the brakes+suspension, swap-in Jeep Commander air vents, and add chrome/aluminium rings and needle caps everywhere to give the interior the vintage look it should have (once you've done this, all MX5 interiors look cheap by comparison).

- whoah, that "just upgrade" list is longer than I thought when I started to type but it would be a sexy+reliable DD and have that sweet 5-speed gearbox vs the crap NB2 AISIN 6-speed gearbox that STILL has issues today :(

Two Miatas is perfect, great having two cars that share parts! I definitely see what you're going for @Lokiel, That would definitely be a cool Miata, although not my personal style. The emerald green is a great color, I absolutely love the color.
