Hey guys I got our MS3x Wired up using the Trubo Kitty pinout. I did initial setup and the car actually started and idled ok but very lean .I had a buddy send me a 1.6 maps since he has tuned a few miatas. Anyways both times the car revs to 2k rpm and cuts out. It acts like a rev limiter. I double checked everything. Two step is off, three step is off, Rev limiter is 7200rpm. I will upload the current tune. Looking back to getting the ecu in the car after almost winning the fall cmp lemons race with our stock ecu. Would just like a little extra power. I really think we have 110-115wrhp. I will say our clutch neutral safety switch is deleted. Was done when we bought the car. It is a non cruise car so no extra switch. Anything to look for?

Here is our fun lemons car going slow and steady to almost win a full 24 hour race at CMP. 2nd overall is still not bad.

 

A log of the issue occurring is what we really need to see.

 

Your trigger angle/offset is at -8.5, am not sure if you can even reach negative numbers even if you physically crank the cam sensor to one side or the other. I would first double check that your top dead center matches your timing marks.

Second, your timing also seems very low, still in the 9's at 2266 rpm, and getting to 27 or so at 7000 and at load. Most maps I have seen are in the 20s by 2000 and in the 40s at 7000.

In fact looking more at the timing table, it looks like it was a timing table taken from a different ECU that displays the MAP in a different direction on the left side, because it looks upside down

^ these arrows in this corner you can take and rescale even a turbo map to only go to 100 MAP as well.

 

So I got the Ms3 in my hands. I am going to double check the wiring on the break out board and go from there. I also talked to someone local who does some megasquirt stuff. He says it sounds like when his car was cutting out around 4k rpm with a rpm sync error. So will be looking into that. I will get a data log but looks like I will not be down to the car till November 21st and the engine is come out for an oil leak at the pan. So hopefully the 22nd I can play with it some and get some data logs.

As for the spark tables it was from someone who just had some base maps. But it does look wrong. So I guess I will do some work. Really starting to watch some videos and learn this stuff. Going to use the lemons car as the learning tool to move my vvt miata time trial car.

As for tdc mark. Its set to 14 degrees BTC on the stock ecu. On the ms3 it came in right at 8.5 degrees BTC? So I do not know. It should be negative for BTC correct?

 

No, you need to set timing static at 10 degrees in the timing menu and using a timing light to adjust that trigger offset until it lined up on the timing marks, then change back to using the timing table.

It sounds like you never set the base timing properly for megasquirt.
