1.8l swap questions. Can I use the TB, VTPS, and idle control valve?
So I’m swapping a 94 1.8l engine into my 91. Since I’ll be running it through my 1.6 wire harness with a MS2 is there any possibility of keeping the 94 throttle body since it already has a VTPS?
If so, is there a known connector I can use to wire into the 1.6 harness that will fit the 1.8 VTPS? Also will the 1.6 wire harness connector fit the 1.8l idle valve?
I’d like to avoid swapping in the 1.6l TB with an adapter if I’m just going to have to find a VTPS to wire in anyway.
If you are going to turbo I would suggest getting a NB throttle body. The idle valve doesn't need a separate hose back to before the throttle body. This way so it is a easier / cleaner install. The connectors for TPS and IAC are different than NA too, so if you are spending now, do it all now.
I did the same swap and used the NA8 throttle body/TPS/IACV. Luckily, my engine came with half a loom so I had the TPS plug, which I wired up according to this diagram from Braineack. Same deal with the IACV.
I just swapped my system to NB throttle body. No IAC hanging in the breeze to foul on reroute hoses. Bought the connectors from ballenger and used deutsch plugs to be able to return to stock ECU if I want to sell my **** later.
