Indeed we do. Obviously there is an abundance here of that to which you refer, in all shapes and forms ranging from the granola-and-hiking-boots type to the glam-pop kids you picture, from the intellectual yet still trendy and hot crowd, to the laid-back surfer chicks who feel that cutoff wetsuits are appropriate business attire (and they are correct). It is simply so commonplace that it hardly merits mention, in much that same way that a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere, while definitely very nice to have, is generally just taken for granted.

However, we also have a great panoply of the other kind as well:

I've been around a bit. I've had chicken wings at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, ribs in Memphis, briscuit in Austin, sliders in Cincinnati, pizza in Brooklyn and the stuff they call pizza in Chicago. I've slopped my way through beef-on-weck, eaten a cheeseburger at the southernmost point in the continental US, explored genuine Korean and Vietnamese cuisine on the scary edges of Chinatown and had a roast beef po-boy with debris at Mother's on Poydras. I've had every variation of frijoles negros served throughout the Caribbean, sampled empenadas that will make you see God, and stuffed myself on Pćo de mel that, by all logical analysis, should have given me diabetes just from looking at it.

But until you have had proper Baja-style fish tacos, you simply have not lived.
