Ok so I got my MSI v3 and stim a couple of weeks ago and am just finally getting the time to try to set it up. I already did the CAS mod, and then was using the stim to give it power to update the firmware to Squirt'n'Spark Extra. I used the dowload-firmware.bet and when I turned off the power to the board, jumpered the boot, and then plugged thr battery back in and now nothing works. The stim doesn't light up and the board isn't getting power.

Any ides what i did or what went wrong?

Sounds simple, but have you tried a different battery. As I recall, powering the board can consume a battery with the quickness.

I tried two different ones, but both were used so I guess I grab another or just use the car for power. I have most of the wiring done already anyways.

 

I tried to use a half dead battery to update the firmware on mine, it failed halfway though on most occasions, because the battery was powering everything I assumed (wrongly) that it wasn't the cause.

One fresh Duracell battery later and everything was hunky dory

The power supply was borrowed from a tired old Philips Windows CE based PDA, but anything that supplies 9 to 12 volts at 300 to 750mA DC is fine.

Works a treat!

 

I did the same thing as saboteur. I couldn't find any 9v batteries but I did have a random 12v power supply hanging around, just chop off the plug and screw in the wires.

 

Be careful with those power supplies. I have at least half a dozen of those that work well with the product supplied but don't work at all with other devices. Check the power supply with a voltmeter and an oscilloscope. Just yesterday, I was hunting down a "problem" in a newly bought Innovate device because the power supply was outputing 14V (instead of 12V) and the output waveform was like a hacksaw.
