Default Best place to get wire?

I'm gonna need to buy some automotive grade wire to make my boomslang clone, where's the best place to get it? 18 or 20 gauge?

I know autozone has it, but I'm sure they want an arm and a leg for it. Radio Shack's wire is more for hobbyist use, automotive wire is a different grade.

Really all seems the same. There is solid core and stranded core. Most of what is in the factory harness is stranded. Radio Shack carries it too.

It seems the same but it's not. Crosslinked wire is what is in factory harnesses.

Never use solid core for automotive use, always use stranded. The insulation needs to be automotive grade, typically -20C to +85C, plus it needs to be oil, gasoline, etc resistant. Don't assume that every wire out there is the same, it is NOT.

There is also the question of what sort of insulation is on the wire. Automotive grade TXL or GXL insulation will stand up to temperatures that would melt the insulation off of cheaper grades of wiring.
