Looking into that last link, though... I like that SparkFun place..
A new thread should be started as this is off topic, BUT;

Memory is SD card, so not fixed. OEM 256mb version with forced power option is £114. Just use your own SD card. It's what I have done. Actually 256mb is a lot of logging. I don't know how configurable the SparkFun item is, but if it can be configured is a good deal.

Amount spent into the project:

U.FL - RPSMA Adapter: $1
3M RPSMA Extension: $2
RPSMA 12dBi Antenna: $4
Bluetooth OEM Module from Bluegiga: $34
TO22 3.3V Voltage Regulator: $4

Total Cost So far: $45

I'm currently finding more information on how to hook up both the BT module while allowing me to use the serial cable when I need. After I figure this out and get MSII set up, I'll keep you guys updated on the installation.

Cool. Well, now that the MSII is up and running, im going to figure out how to get this bluetooth module set up. I installed a DIP switch terminal on the protoboard section. I think the way this is going to work is basically using the switches to turn off and on the bluetooth or the serial cable, but well see if theres an easier way to go about it.

I think the tricky part of setting this up wont be the wiring, but setting up the firmware to use a SPP (Serial Port Profile), basically acting as an invisible serial cable (duh). Im going to post set by step settings once i figure it out.

Im going to kind of put this project on halt until i get the MSII tuned correctly, which shouldnt be too long. I want to have the car in a good running condition before i mess with the communications. Dont want to be SOL if i need to flash something and i cant because the comms are down on the board.

Just a little update for those who are interested in doing something like this.

I got all the parts I need for the project now, and since my car is up and running very well, I will probably tackle it this week or next week. When I get it all set up, Ill have step by step instructions on how to install it, what parts are needed (there are a few more that will be needed on the list), and how to set up the firmware. Check back soon.

Hey, Marc, did this every work out? I've thought about it, but figured the lazy way out was to let you figure it out first.

Not that I have the battery life to waste on bluetooth. :-P

Too many projects have left me no time to tackle it, but in time I will get it up and going. On a side note, I fixed my megastim, turned out that I fried the Q1 transistor on my megastim using a faulty power source. Changed it out, and everything seems to be working fine now. Now I can work on my MS on the bench instead of on the car.

This was probably the main thing hindering me from getting it up. Not being able to do the mods for the BT module out of the car was not really something I was up to do, and I wasnt really ready to fork over 50 bucks for a new stim.

Now that its all good to go, there are several things i gotta do before I tackle the bluetooth as I think the BT module should be the last modification I do. I still got to deal with the EBC, then a couple of more mods, like the cap mod to get rid of that batt light. Then I gotta change settings to make sure the EBC is working where I want it. Doing this messes around with the communications with the MS to the computer, so I wanted to make sure I can do this without having to worry about changing a setting that will make my car "undriveable" (that even a word? haha)

I will most definitely update here, and my original BT installation thread with pictures and full detailed instructions on where to wire it up when its all done.
