Hi,

I just wired most of my ecu cut or tap connections for the MS and have a slight problem now.

The "How to" thread says in the 99 wiring diagram - clutch switch should be 3I.

My (although German) wiring diagram shows for both the 1,6 and 1,8 99 models pin 1V for the clutch switch.



Do the US versions really have a seperate clutch switch input on the 99 at pin 3I and for the neutral switch at pin 1V?

I read in a different thread (where a similar pic of the 90-93 models was shown) that you have to disconnect the neutral switch in that case - correct?

where is the Brwn/wht wire on your harness?

 

Strangely, they do. Here's the US-spec diagram for 99-00:



The earlier US-spec cars have only one CU pin for both switches. I don't see why you could not simply tap into the BR/W wire at 1V. You might have to disconnect the neutral switch, though of course it's of little value with the MS installed.

So I think I will try it the way it works for the 90-93 cars.

FWIW, my 99 has TWO clutch switches. One that says the clutch is up, one that says the clutch pedal is down. For launch control to work, it needs to read "up" switch. The bottom switch is so you can't start the car without pushing in the clutch. Just make sure you are looking at the right switch.

 

I think the one that says the pedal is down is a special "US-Market" feature - because over here in Europe we are used to drive cars with gear-shift. I think because of the huge amount of automatic cars in the US the switch is added as a safety feature. I can start my car with a gear in place and the clutch not pushed (which means I can try and end up at the garage wall... )
