Default DIY PNP or other...

Alrighty, so first things first I want to knock out the engine management. After quite a bit of perusing I think I've decided on going with a DIYPNP (the car is a 99) I like the idea of the PNP so I can do most of the fiddly bits on the bench and not have to cut harnesses in the car.

I'm probably ordering one next week. The question is before I do that, are there better options? I've seen some threads on here about some member built ecus. Are these cost saving measures, adding functionality, or just some labor saving?

Thanks in advance

diypnp works well in a 99, you just need to figure out controlling the alternator.

Ok it looks like the PWM isn't quite mature yet on the diypnp, so no out of the box fun. However if I understand it correctly an alt. out of an NA with a 1.8 will manage itself and bolt in so that's an good enough solution for me if that works.

Now I want to look at sequential fuel injection though...

Well that was easy... Looks like they already have a module to add two more injector outputs. Simple enough there.

the module works. it's also about $4 in parts that you can build on the proto area, fwiw.

Ok I took the plunge and ordered it, wish me luck! I decided on the module. It's been years since I've done even a through hole kit so the less things for me to screw up the better

This did however give me an excuse to pickup up a real nice used weller station so there's that!

Good luck

I used the same logic, the DIYPNP kit is pretty easy to put together, Seq Fuel inj module is simple to add in, you may as well add it from the start imo.
