Default First MS maps

I hate Vista

Ben can vouch - the datalog files won't open unless you open them using MLV, the .msq files can't be opened without using megatune.. so I took screenshots of my tables in the meanwhile.

I'd post the datalog but I can't figure out how to get it onto the thumbdrive.. sigh. The only problems I have other than running rich in boost are a hiccup during hard accel, bucking around at cruise/very slight accel (parking lots), takes 3 or more tries to start, and slight surging at idle.

I started experimenting last night after work on the idle, and the drive to work this morning revealed that what I'd done made the engine die when I let off. Cool thing about MS is I just loaded the previous map and viola! I love that!

first, take off averaging on cranking...do you have a PNP or are using a deviation of their map? if so then your req-fuel is setup for like 700cc injectors.

Good call on the averaging. I didn't change it from MAT to average. Must be how the PNP is shipping these days. Matt, in the Cranking/Prime Table, set the Cranking Pulse Width Temps to MAT only. That should take care of most or all of your restart grief. And once you are happy with the VE table, you can make your AE much less aggressive.

Scott, I set his reqfuel so that he'd have decently high VE table numbers, so he'd get better resolution and better ability to tune idle.

The vista on his computer needs its *** kicked.

I don't suggest setting it to use MAT. If I let my car sit after going for a drive my engine might be at 90* after and hour or two but the IAT might still read 120* dut to latent heat soak. I suggest putting it on CLT instead.

You guys are using MAT cranking pw? My MSPNP came set for CLT only, and I hadn't messed with it. Maybe that's part of my cranking problems?

I like when people post their tables...motivates me to compare what I'm running way more than when people post msqs. Call me lazy. Thanks Koto.

Sorry, please listen to Chad and use CLT only. Not MAT only.
I was working from memory, which contradicted what my MSQ shows. FWIW, I have absolutely no restart problems.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! (keep it coming!)

I'll go set cranking to CLT only, FWIW Ben restart is usually not as bad as cold start first thing in the morning.

Brain: Numerous problems with Vista, I hate it, for a tuning laptop anyway. It's unnecessarily complex and annoying, and needs its *** kicked. The MS is a PNP.

I don't want to hijack the thread too much, but for those of you having problems with Vista, why the heck don't you just upgrade your computer to XP and be done with it?

I loaded Megatune onto my two-week-old Vista laptop. I've never had an issue with it.

No problems with Vista here either. Well, there was one problem, running that copysettings file wouldn't work because Vista wouldn't give it admin rights. But that was easily fixed.

Valid point, it's not my computer yet though.

Edit - had my first hot no-wanna-restart today, luckily in my driveway. Guess I'll go fiddle with cranking PW some.
