hello everybody, ive been searching the web and cant seem to find anything but was hoping someone would help me out as your all a clever bunch :P
Okay I had a fujitsu windows 7 laptop 32 bit and I am connecting my ecu via a seriel-to-usb converter so I downloaded and installed the driver and works perfectly!
until the day my cat decided to tip my coffee mug over and killed the laptop
with it being a old laptop anyway I wasn't too bothered and was thinking of a new one anyway.
I bought a Acer laptop with windows 8.1 64 bit. so I then went to download tuner studio again I had to install Java 32 bit as tuner studio wouldn't install with java 64.
once I downloaded and installed all the files I needed including the usb convertor, I open tuner studio and go to new project and press detect (ignition of the car is on and the usb is plugged in com3) it says 'Port searching' the magnifying glass moves about but that's all it does, theres usually a blue loading bar which goes left to right when its found the ecu, but the loading bar dosent move from the start.
as u can tell im not that technical with computers lol if anyone has any advice and could help me out please do so
thanks in advance

Check out this link for some trouble shooting steps.
Thank you, thank you, thank you zammish! I've been searching all evening for my connection problem cure.
I uninstalled 64 bit java and tuner studio now can see my mspnp2. My sanity is still in tact so far. Will try and see if it will crank later.

Brilliant!!! Thank you!
I was having the same trouble connecting. Had gone through the troubleshooting with no resolve. Read this, remembered I had installed 64 bit recently. Ran downstairs uninstalled 64 bit, ran to the garage(glad I still had the heat up) plugged it in and success!!! Connected!! On with the tuning and turboing
